The "Interesting Zook" thread - post them all here
You read that and concluded it was a real truck?
"you play and stimulate heart heart and curiosity"
That makes even less sense than my posts!
PS, a jimny ( now known as "gym knee") has a 450kg payload. so this is a forward control "truck" with a 200kg payload once two guys are in it - "cool"
Sorry, not having a go at you boner, but concept cars are silly. They get everyone excited over nothing. Remember the RAV-4 concept? It had a winch, twin diff locks, a hose out interior..... and we ended up with a corolla 4WD with a silly body on it. not one element of the concept made it to production.

It has high running the whole distance characteristic, the "gym knee", "the escudo", it has high loading characteristic, DNA "of [kiyarii]"
It even says it's based on a Jimny..... I think

I've seen the G/sierra before. I don't want to talk about it. Its too painful for both cars.
Boner, my guess is this "concept" will turn into the new APV type thing (replacement for the carry van) There's no ute APV at the moment AFAIK. Manufacturers use concepts like this to try out little styling elements like grilles and rough shapes. don't look too hard at the machanicals or specifics like the beadlocks or that they built it on a "Gym Knee" chassis.

Yeah, I reckon my 1970 Rover rancher mower would more comfortable .Sean wrote:those seats look REALLY uncomfortable.

After more opinions: looking at the side on shot of the X-Head prototype that CJ posted, does anyone else think that its a longer wheelbase than a Jimny? Not going by tyre to tyre, but the distance between the control arm mounts under the chassis rails; admitadly I don't know the Jimny too well, but I reckon it looks longer.
Wheeling on completely wicked angles, without even looking stable.
unusual zooks
I've done a few measurements and calculations on the pics above and...
IF those wheels are the same stud pattern as Sierra then I figure the wheelbase to be 2393mm......... 300 odd longer than my SWB Sierra.

Re: unusual zooks
Jimny wheelbase is listed as 2250mm on carsales; assuming carsales is correct. If want33's calculations are reasonable, then the X-head might be roughly an extra 150mm over a standard jimny!want33s wrote:I've done a few measurements and calculations on the pics above and...

If so, then I think it would be nice if Suzuki would use this to build a 'proper' Jimny ute (as opposed to a custom chop-job), with an associated LWB. Though 150mm might not be enough for a full ute. As said though, holding ones breath for a car company to ever do anything, is only to ask for certain death.

this thing looks terrible! haha
I like how its got interchangable rear bits that convert it into a different purpose vehicle... just like a toy! haha

I hate going to weddings because all the grandma's used to poke me in the ribs saying you're next, you're next. They've stopped doing it since I started doing it to them at funerals.
Saffrett - why do you say that? The poor COG would be more due to where the passenger/driver were sitting rather than where the engine is. A more central engine will help with weight distribution.
The floor is suspiciously high. I thing the ergonomics would be terrible and guard to tyre clearances would be marginal. Notice how far the inner guards sit into the cab- the driver and passenger sit hip to hip and will be playing footsies. My money is that it doesn't have an engine in it at all.
Wheelbase looks stock jimny to me. Stock Jimny wheelbase is almost the same as LWB sierra.

Here is the wierd part (quoted from ad):
Is this bloke selling it, or putting new gears in there. Sounds like he or she might put them in after someone buys it. Also it sounds like they are saying it does 65mph now, but I havn't put the winch on it yet, then it will go faster, LOL.Bloke selling that car on ebay wrote: I AM GOING TO CHANGE TRANSFER GEARS TO 488 GEARS TO RUN FASTER ON HIGHWAY. I CAN RUN ABOUT 65 MPH RIGHT NOW. AND I HAVE NOT YET PUT A WINCH ON BUMPER. FOR ANY OTHER QUESTIONS EMAIL OR CALL
OK. Could be an optical illusion from the ute like shaping, and short bonet. Just thought the Jimny control arms were closer to the centre of the chassis than that... I'll find a Jimny parked at uni somewhere and take a look.Gwagensteve wrote:Wheelbase looks stock jimny to me. Stock Jimny wheelbase is almost the same as LWB sierra.
