mate of mine took his top mount of of 05 patrol 4.2 put big front mount in works well, was lot of work relocating stuff and cutting out grill so would fit behind and be up high enough. me personally i'm going with custom top mount. New jackeroo has nice big air scoop for bonnet that can be fitted to patrol so can fit larger under bonnet intercooler.
Another good mod is to put the 4.8 ltr air cleaner in instead of the pissy little 4.2 one nearly double the size and all the bolt holes are there in the panel work for it to go in. just have to relocate over flow bottle sml mods to air intake

Ok the easy,s why to tell you that a front mount is 100% better than a top mount is

1 TOP MOUNT when you are off road your speed is not that fast so where does hot air go up off the engine in to the intercooler and it make's the inlet air hotter then standard

2 FRONT MOUNT cold air in front hot air out the back .

3 FRONT MOUNT you will need the piping to be no smaller then 2 3/4 inc so the air flow is rigth trust me be down that road before and spent a lot of time on the duno doing my math's

NOTE : your patrol go's better in the cold then the hot because then is more oxy density in the air but to big of a intercooler will heat the air up depanting on the size of the turbo a great size intercooler is 600 x 300 x 76 with 3 inc inlets and outlets

hope that help

I,m talking 400x600 size cooler out the front and placed right behind the grill little bit more work than just bolting the f**k on.
