**Gates Winched Down - Bunyip S.P.**
Evening to all!
Something a little negative...
I was out doing some field work in Bunyip/Gembrook S.P. on Tuesday for a school trip in the area shortly, and l came across an open gate.
Very strange l thought...
On closer inspection - clearly it had been forced (winch style) - as it was bent almost in two. Certainly not a result of recent storms to hit the area in my opinion!!
How frustrating! This is a park, and l don't have to tell many on this forum, that we have been systematically, and I believe in some ways, un-fairly shut out of. There is no defense for this type of behavior. It is straight out criminal damage.
This is another clear cut case of a minority ruining it for the majority who do the right thing. About 4 meters inside the gate a sign reads, “No Motorbikes or 4wds. Penalty up to $4000.â€

upload them to photobucket and post them.mike_beecham wrote:Also – l have pictures of the damage – if your keen PM me and l will e-mail them to you. I have passed them onto Park’s Gembrook Office for their consideration.

Honestly are you suprised that fuckwits do this these days? as you say... fucks for the rest that do turn round or plan trips the right way
Mike how are you? Am I right in hearing a rumour that you happened to attend a certain raft guiding course not long ago?
mate Bunyip SP is my backyard and people have been abusing it for years and years...I"m just not surprised anymore to see winched gates or more closed tracks that apparently dont' seem to be part of the management plan that was set out a few years back... The rubbish is absolutely astounding....JD, JB, bundy cans line every track and are usually accumulated around bogholes where these W@nkers drive their ill prepared 4by into a bog and then proceed to wrap their winch cable directly around the tree or break a snatch strap and just leave it behind....
See u out on the river...or trails...

Not much you can do other than setup a 1000volt eletric fence with a 50m moat around it and planted over all the tracks inside and tell everyone to F off, other wise risk being shot dead.
Then you won't be able to walk through the joint either.
A $4000 fine or any fine doesn't mean much as you have to be caught first then fined and most cases it ends up being a "don't do that again" type fine "now go away" being the end result.
You have greenies running around the joint complaining about how people drive through the desert sand and wreaking it for the plant seeds in the sand a it'll take 50 years just to fix up the sand.
what can anyone do really.

Can't say i can ever recall a Watson's Tk. Doesn't look like much from photos either. I'd say it would be more like mindless vandalism than attempt to drive a track.
Probably forgot to pack the spray paint, or inhaled it

True l was on that Guides course...l have heard plenty about you - hmmm. Have to catch for a beer sometime.
I too have used that area for some time, and have just watched it become more and more abused. Sad really.
Tread lightly!

Its shut due to the closure of most of the 4x4 tracks except for main thoroughfares on the Black Snake Range as per the managment plan to reduce noise pollution for local residents. Thats my understanding anyway...Watsons did have a few nice rutted out sections on it...Aim is to push the 4x4 and motorbike users futher out to make it more "pleasant" for the rate payers...
There defienitely has to be a balance but in this case the balance was biased towards local ratepayers...man they knew they were buying a house or living near a state park that is free for anyone to use...its quite a shame...

if you buy a house next to a petrol station expect the smell of petrol from time to time.
however the behaviour of winching gates is inexcusable and not the 'right' way to protest, and if i ever saw someone doing it i would not hesitate to report them to the DSE/Parks.

looking at those pics again, it looks like it has been rammed from the back otherwise you would expect to see some damage from a cable and/or the bottom pipe surely would have bent before breaking if it were a progressive increase in force..
was the gate at the other end open? maybe someone came down to find it shut at the exit.. (still doesnt excuse the behaviour though) just an observation.

As a Ratepayer, this is what you would expect. sad for us though.dank wrote:..Aim is to push the 4x4 and motorbike users futher out to make it more "pleasant" for the rate payers...
yep its a shame, but not suprising... they maybe near a state park, but not everyone expects bikes to be unloading at 7am with powerpipes and shit blasting out sat/sundays everyweek, or 4b's to be diving thru at 3am...There defienitely has to be a balance but in this case the balance was biased towards local ratepayers...man they knew they were buying a house or living near a state park that is free for anyone to use...its quite a shame...
But there needs to be better control so we can all use the area.
The only way to stop it is to report the fucking idiots.
Down at the ottways in august i think it was we found 4 gates had been opened. someone had an angle grinder and just cut through the locking pins. didnt go after the locks but the massive pins in the gates.
If people are cought and are members of a forum, 4wd club or assosiation they should be banned its as simple as that. if they are too stupid to see what there actions are doing.

It's simple: questions are inherently good. Your questions... not so much

after seeing some of the stoner retards (sorry to actualy retarded people) that are out on the tracks in ill prepared vehicles, trying to drive andersons on worn all terrains on 50 psi of pressure in the rain, and when offered to be recovered, ask if you have any weed!
it would suprise me if they were a member of any club or respectable forum, to be honest.
