Got Mogs!!!!

Post by Strange Rover »

Got my mog 404 axles. Heres a pic. These axles are a lot smaller in real life and I would have to say they are the most incredible axle I have ever seen (way better than my d60 front). I just carnt believe these guys mass produced these things. Its just totally unbelievable.

Just looking at the axles quickly they have a WMS-WMS of about 68in with a gear ratio of 7.5:1 with factory lockers. I can put my 15in wheels on over the stock drum brakes with a back spacing of about 3.5in. I got the tailshafts and the torque tubes with them so its easy to convert then to a normal flanged pinion setup. The only thing hard (not so much hard, more of a PITA) I got to do is cut the front axle housing and swap the axle tubes so I get the pumpkin on the RHS.

Damn sweet axles. :multi: :multi: :multi:

Hey BJ do you want a BW T18 adapted to a LT95 transfer??? It gets you a gearing of 6.3x3.3 = 20.8 in the gearbox. Starting to look like I carnt convert the front pumpkin to the RHS and am going to have to get a NP205 or something

It will be about 200mm wider overall. About the same as peter antunac and dobbin. They are supposed to be very strong, stronger than a D70 but people have broken them.

The locker has to work off the long axle (which is on the RHS) If I out the short axle on the RHS the locker wont work. I could get it to work but I would have to get a custom short axle made.

Still thinking, will probably pull the front apart and have a look at the axles cause getting one custom axle made will be the easiest and cheapest route (I hope). This way I can stay with my rover 3.3:1 transfer and not go the np205 which is 1.96:1

I think I will put this on hold till after this first XRCC. Just got too much stuff to do before then.

Sam's Rover at XRCC ...

Sam,

Who is driving your blue Rover at the XRCC? George was around yesterday and said you had sold it. Is this true? Have you joined the secret squirell society?
