Turbo'd Tb42 with miss fire and spluttering.

Post by Mulisha »

hi guys

I noticed a slight splutter when high up in the revs a couple of weeks ago didn't think much of it really just was a bit strange. car only gets driven on weekends with having a work car so this weekend just gone i went to hit boost and the thing had this huge miss and splutters like crazy! other thing is when idling i could hit the throttle from idle like 500rpm and rev perfectly now it has these missing bussiness going on

So i took No.1 lead off spark plug and put in a screwdriver and on some metal has a purple/blue spark. It had a new coil/leads/plugs and has a elec Petronix ign installed all this was done 6 months ago oly done 4000kms if that i reakon.

What should i start looking at is it to do with engine or the turbo or is like ign spark releated?

Thanks for ya help

Rick.

sound to me spark related, did you replace the dissy cap and rotor button,
you can remove your cap and see if there is any arching marks on the inside, if so replace the cap and rotor, check to see if any of the leads have been rubbing and arching anywhere.
I would start there. just a thought.
