Having some trouble with my 1985 FJ73 landcruiser, the bugger wont start!!
Has happened twice now, both times, turn key, dash lights come on, and NOTHING! starter doesnt even click. Ignition off, jumper on, turn key and NOTHING AT ALL! no dash lights or anything. After the first time I jump started it the next day no problem, this time it doesnt do anything.
There is something wrong with the power somewhere, my lights still work, brake, hazrds but nothing else in the car does. Interior lights doesnt, no radios, dash or anything. All the fuses are ok, but they dont have power except for the headlights and hazards, horn still works too.
There is no power at all at the ignition switch no matter what the postion is. There is power to the started motor, but from there something is going on to the fuse box.
Any ideas or places to start would be great, A little while ago I had a leaky windscreen, water used to drop onto the accelerator pedal, and water killed my alarm which was inside the kick panel/above fuses. Could water have screwed something leading to these symptoms ?

Cruiser electrical problem wont start HELP!!

Get a multimeter if you don't have one, you get cheapies for about $25 i think... anyhow, I presume its a 2f/3f ?
Start by getting someone to turn the key when you are under it. Run positive lead of the meter to the smaller set of wires going into the starter motor (not the big main cable), when they turn the key its supposed to have something show but in your case it probably won't. Work your way up the circut to the starter solinoid. It should have a few cables comming out of that to, once again get someone to turn the key to see if it has a reading, on either the side going to the starter motor or the other side...
From there its a nightmare, too many places without looking at a wiring diagram and pulling everything apart.
A similar thing happened to mine but it was simply the starter solinoid but I couldn't be bothered frigging around with typical backward toyota wiring so I did a test to see what would happen when all ignition was on and attached a one end of a jumper lead to the battery and touched the other end on the smaller input of the starter, WAMMO she went... So you could try that and to save the headache run another wire straight from another switch in your car to start it... Otherwise pay someone

62 was Petrol, now 12ht ! Body lift, lockers, spring lift, reverse offset rocrawler...? rims, NO RUST, some more stufffff....
Checked your battery terminals? What condition are your battery leads in? Mainly the earth.
Make sure they are not lose and covered with a white powder like substance.
With a multimeter, your battery should read around 12.7v if in good condition and 13.2v when the vehicle been running for around 10min.

AWD is a poor excuse for a 4WD.
