Reading on Rocky Road about a venturi tube that can be added to zook carbs to stop hesitation under acceleration. Apparently even suzuki acknowledge the problem. Has anyone had experince with the tube or know were I could get one in Oz.?

done abit of net research apparently the venturi is the narrowing of the carb as for a tube part couldnt find anything about it

how to solve problem sierras generally rev to 6000rpm go on give it a go :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:

They have them on the american sites, rocky road, Izook etc. There is no problem with high revs it just after each gear change when you put your foot on the accelerator.

I remember reading something about this a while ago. Can you post the link? The fix is for Hitachi carbs isn't it ? U.S got Hitachi, not Aisin carbs as fitted to Australian models.

Venturi Tube
If you are running a stock carbureted motor, you have a easily fixable problem. Suzuki should have put this part in from the factory but caught it to late. "...Samurais may exhibit a hesitation/flat spot, in any gear, when in acceleration from partial to open throttle." Your Samurai has or will have a flat spot in carburetor. When you are at an idle and you floor the throttle it will hesitate for a moment and then continue to rev up. That hesitation is what you want to get rid of. The reason for this is it causes a vacuum in the fuel bowl. This venturi tube catches some of the air coming into the engine and forces it into the bowl eliminating the flat spot. Super easy to install and only takes about 5 minutes.

Here is a pic of an Aisin carb. In the red box is the float chamber vent tube. If your carb doesn't have this tube it's probably a Hitachi (not likely though).

Without this tube to pressurise(slightly) the float chamber, a vacuum can form inside stopping fuel from being released.

Spend $ on a rebuild kit install it try dosnt work pull it apart try again get mad realize how simple webers are and have fun! Well thats what I did couldnt get the stock carb to work.

It seems to work fine. Starts, idles, goes hard. Just has the "bogging down/flat spot" problem on hard accel... This "venturi" tube seemed like a simpler fix for it than converting to a different carb...

My accelerator pump (the little doover that gives a squirt of petrol when you floor the accelerator) is buggered. The "boot" over it is cracked and perished, and i don't get the little jet of petrol when floored (i have checked).

Fixing this should help with the hesitation also, shouldn't it? Are they hard to fix? especially for a non mechanical noob such as myself? Or should i just get a new carby from a wrecker that has a working accelerator pump (cheating, i know)

I had other probs to it was running on the choke all the time I think wouldnt start if it wasnt on level ground and they seem alot more complicated so I went to the weber as they are simpler and there is LOTS of info available on them + the carb shop quoted up to $400 to fix the stocker and already had the weber.
