Trail-Gear - Changing shipping prices after order confirmed

Post by napsta »

Ok, I ordered some drive flanges from Trail-Gear last week, the online thing calculated my shipping, I gave them all the right answers. Paid by credit card, got an email confirming my order and the prices, and that it would be charged to my card and i would receive shipping details shortly. Didnt hear from them so sent them an email checking up last night, and got 2 replies: the first was a shipping confirmation with tracking numbers, saying my item had been shipped.
The second was a reply for the sales guy saying their computer had miss quoted me on shipping, and it was going to be $US 108 instead of $US 68 for shipping. seems a bit much or just shipping some drive flanges...
any thoughts? has it happened to anyone else?

tell em its not your fault that they made a mistake, they should have picked up on it earlier and notified you before shipping. Tell em to suck it up.

If i made a mistake like that at work and charged a customer one price and they paid and i sent, there is no way i could sting em for more $$ once its on the way.

check the tracking numbers on the shipment companies website. that will tell you if the consignment has left, if so dont worry about it.

I used American mail instead of UPS shipping some stuff from sky manufacturing, it was half the price. Took 2 weeks though.

+1

All the yank shops like using UPS, get them to use USPS (normal mail), UPS might be cheap to other yanks but not to OZ.

Ditto ..

It must make you an offer.. or cancel your order of shipp it with the price that he quoted first .. aren't your fault ..

Maybe you underestand it's a fauld and accept pay more ( up to you ) .. but he can't charge more to you before asking.

They offered to cancel the order. If he didnt cancel the order then he has to werar the Excess Charges. I dont see a problem with what has happened other than their program that calculates the shipping needs work.

The thing with shipping via USPS vs UPS internationally is you dont get tracking numbers. If you want to risk your stuff going missing intransit with no way to recover it go USPS. If you want to be sure you'll get it or get your money back go UPS. 68usd shipping vs 108usd isn't too big a jump. I've been billed 96usd to ship 2 ARB pressure switches and rocker covers before. Ended up costing about 150Aud per pressure switch but I needed them in a hurry. Just cost me another 96usd to ship 4 Hilux IFS boots from Cali which weighed about 5lbs so 108usd for some heavier drive flanges isnt too bad.

That is not quite correct. You can and I have had goods shipped USPS with tracking numbers as they have a range of airmail services. Mine has normally taken about a week to get here and it is definitely cheaper than UPS.

When you order from TG it says on the site shipping is quoted for US states only not international orders always send an email to confirm shipping price.

shoot me an email i may be able to help you out with a future order making up for the mistake.

The shipping system that Trail-Gear used to calculate the shipping was not working correctly on international orders. So we removed the system for international orders. Trail-Gear does not ship via usps because the service is so poor. We only ship via UPS. If you would like a shipping quote, please call at 559-903-0705 or email sales@trail-gear.com

Another option is to check out international dealer list for a dealer closer to you.

Please do not send pm's asking for shipping quotes.
