I'm aware of a few lwb sierras that have had this modification done to them - one of which is getting engineered (i.e. currently working under consultation with an engineer)... So i'm pretty sure it can be done legally.

I think the norm is to cut the chassis off just behind the rear shackle hangers.

thats all good but i dont have shackel hangers...

what im planning on doing is moving the rear diff back(a-arm)then chop the chassis, then run tube from there up to the tube tray.

you don't need an engineers certificate if you dont touch the rear cross member

but you do if you want to move modify or change the rear X-member in any way

hope this helps

As a GENERAL rule that our engineer has told us 3/4 of the original chassis must be retained. As I said General so others may have a different oppinion this is just what I have been told.
