But this won't be happening for a while...

Its a Toy LJ78 front cut with high pinion 4.88 diff. I think it has most things I'll need. Just the IFS hub spacers. Went for the whole thing as then I get all the mounts etc, steering arms, steering box and so forth
The only decision I need to make is what vehicle do I take the grinder too... My immaculate but not afraid to be used SWB or the 1999 LWB I have in the shed with no body (had been rolled) waiting for something to be done to it.....
Like I say - this will be a long term! Spend - save -spend - save. Next spend is getting pumpkin swapped.

I have thought that too, well i don't even think I'd bother to shorten the chassis. Just put a jtop body onto it (cut back).Overkill wrote:Do it to the LWB, shorten the chassis and make a tray back. Save and buy a cheap body off TMe. Could be an awesome project, again I'm damn JEALOUS!
It'd be easiest to do it to the LWB by a long shot as there is no body in the way.
BUT
My SWB is the pride and joy - the one I want to ride nicely, and make a great club truck. It is all this and more now so I keep thinking i should just put a ARB in the front and go anywhere, however I will never get the off road ride from the IFS.
BUT
I want a solid axle club truck...
P.S. I like my creature comforts and can't see for the life of me the point of cutting down a perfectly good vehicle for a club vehicle......

Enough. I have no idea what this sort of stuff is worth, did a bit of research and made an offer!Turoa wrote:how much did it set you back?

Interesting to hear that AE92. I have thought the same. I'm picking it's due to the bushing arrangement. 80 series front arms are the same but have the pin at the chassis which should work better...?
I'd be interested in peoples thoughts. From what I have gathered a 5 link will flex better but a 3 link will be much more stable and easier to do without careful geometry that will lead to arms working against themselves with the 5 link.
This 4 link you tank about - 3 link + panhard or just the 4 linked angle design?
Thoughts?
