I've got 3" lift in the shorty and when running 33's they only just touch on full articulation.grazza wrote:You have experience of this?tna racing wrote:33's should
On my shorty 33's would rub on full articulation with 2". I have 4" lift and its fine.
If you want them to work, you'll need bigger than 2" unless you want to get creative with a grinder.
Just driving around town "might" be OK though.
2" lift and you get a fair bit of rubbing on the rough stuff and on the road when say you are at turning and have to drive up a gutter or over a hump.
[quote="chimpboy"]I might be reading that wrong, but it sounds like you are saying you want to come out of the closet and then rape my bottom or something..?

For the money you are going to spend on a body lift, or bigger spring lift, you would be better off paying a panel beater to make your guards big enough for 35s. I run 37s and I have a 4 inch lift. ZOOK60 fitted 38s on his shorty with a 2" lift by trimming his guards. If you are so determined to get a body lift I will sell you the one I took out of mine and save you some dollars, but guard trimming is the way to go.
I had a 89 SWB GQ. It had a 40mm OME coils fitted. I ran 285/75R16 BFG muds and cooper muds. No problems for 5years with only that.
The only place they rubbed was on the inside of the rear wheel arch. I know of a shorty with a 6"susp lift and a 3"BL and he could get 31's to rub in the same spot.
There maybe slight rubbing on the mudflap. To fix either remove the metal and bend it slightly with your hand.
33's fit no problem.

the question is almost impossible to accurately answer, there are a lot of variables like how stiff the coils are, compressed length of shocks, and rim offset. im running 37s with 4inch suspension, 2inch body lift and have trimmed all the guards and fitted 1and a half inch wheel spacers, my tyres dont touch anywhere.
l have a 3" spring lift and a 2" body lift and run 35" x 11.5" x 16 on my 89 GQ shorty.
They do rub slightly when its all twisted up but nothing serious that will end up damaging any body work.
I plan on dropping the 2" body lift out very shortly which means that l may have to give the inner guards a bit of a tune up with the hammer.
