which transfer case can i use?
hey guys looking at putting an auto in the patrol which is an mq.
i am just looking for what sort of drivers side drop remote transfer cases are out there???
want something that i can get some gears for to get some lower reduction.
truck makes about 150kw at the wheels so something thats hopefully not going to break all the time would be good.
unless someone knows how to setup mq twin transfers???

The only divorce mount transfers you could use I can think of would be atlas, NP205, or maybe hilux with a divorce mount kit (pretty sure someone in the US makes them)
These can all be geared.( NP205 gears are $$$ though as the case has to change) There are no gears for MQ/720 divorce cases that I am aware of.
Steve.

If you have the $$$ and room, an NP203/205 doubler with a RHS drop np205 would give you duals, but the $$$ and length of the unit might make it unsuitable.

Mike,
You won't need gearing qute as low with an auto as you do with a manual.
Duals might be difficult in yours due to the short wheel base.
Look at an Atlas, by the time you buy a whatever brand case, rebilud kut, adaptor kit, reduction gears you're getting close to their cost anyway.

Plus you know the Atlas will take a flogging, with 150 kilowatts at the treads you can most likley give the driveline some pretty heavy abuse.sierrajim wrote:Mike,

The auto just makes off road vehicle control so much easier, you can left foot brake to slow yourself down effectively giving yourself an almost unlimited crawl ratio.mikesmith wrote:hey james
i have some plans for the mq atm. its going to involve some longer wheelbase so i will have a bit more room.
what is an atlas worth??
yeh so many options all look like costing a fortune.
why would i not need as much reduction cause of running an auto???
What size tyres do you want to run?
Ruggers, one thing to take into account with Mikes application is that he's most likely going to drive on high traction surfaces as opposed to mud. You guys are obviously running some pretty serious horsepower however from what i understand you operate in a very low traction environment.

Since your saying 150kw. Then you not talking about a MK/MQ motor. So depending on what auto you have. Have you thought about just getting another adapter and putting a GQ transfer case on the back? rear output want be in the right spot and being a shorty that could be a problem.

Cost wise: Gearbox to transfer adaptor $xx, two transfer cases $xx, twin transfer adaptor $xx, 2 x transfer case rebuild kits $xx couldn't be too far off an atlas that will also give you the ability to do digs.
