haya, quite the newqb question here but i guess if i dont ask questions ill neva know ayy, :oops:
iv been lookin under and the gbox and tcase for the dip stick for the trans fluid, but with no avail, have no idea where they could be .or if their is one or what?

can anyone help me out,
its a 2f motor..(1981 fj40)

They dont have a dipstick. They have a fill plug and a drain plug. Drain plugs are obviously at the bottom and the fill plugs are about halfway up on both the transfer case or gearbox on the passenger side. Size 24 socket/spanner from memory. If you plan on draining take out the filler plug too so it can drain thoroughly. When filling, fill until fluid starts to trickle out of the filler hole then fit the filler plugs.

and to check fluid levels. put your pinkie in the fill hole, you should be able to feel fluid just under the level of the hole. if not, add more.

don't do it while running or when the gearbox is too hot to touch. (not a dig, just had a bad image)
