I am building a long travel rear end in my ute and want to piss off the proportioning valve. No - I dont want to keep it and just use a spacer bracket on my diff.
Has anyone here done it?
If so which line did you remove and does it matter?
Any problems without it?
No Guess's or assumptions thanks
Vehicle has GU twin pots on front, 1988 GQ disc rear, 1988 GQ booster
I've removed it from mine. I have removed the brake line from the block, below the booster, right through. I now only have one line running to the rear. So I now have 50% of the pedal pressure going to the rear. This doesn't mean 50-50 brake split as the rear pistons are smaller and so give less brake force. Well that is according to the engineer that certified the mod. Before this I had the valve cable tied shut and it gave the same result. This is just a lot neater.
The biggest difference to running the valve is that the rears lock up if braking hard down hill on a loose surface. No big deal and very pradictable. When in 4wd it makes the braking much much better as you have maximum force and since it is 50-50 split, the rear can't lock without the front ayway.
