A mate is buying one. What year did they stop with the 2LTE and start with the 3litre motor (5L??)

'93 was the change over year from the 2.4l 2LT or 2LT-E to the 3l or 1KZT-E. Go the 3l if you get a choice as the 2.4l's have a lot of inherant problems with overheating and cracked heads.(And not to mention lack of power, altough they be made to move with exhaust and pump mods.)

Yeah, Phi, The Sur did not have the 5l (3.0litre diesel), nor did it have the 3l (2.8 litre diesel).

They cam with the petrol v6 (not common here), the 2lt upto 91 (2.4 td no efi), the 2lte (same with efi) and the 1kzte (3litre td, same as in the prado and current hilux).

The 3L sell for around 5K more than the 2.4 2lte of same year. After 93, they were all 1kzte. After theshape change from LN130 to KZN185, there was the option for the intercooled model, but the body and trim is very different to anything sold locally, unlike the LN130 shares a lot of parts with no problem getting bits at all.
