Hey guys, I'm looking at buying a SWB 4x4 to have a bit of fun on the weekends, my brother in law has a drover, and i was thinking of getting a sierra (or drover, whichever one comes my way), but he says that he would have never bought it if he had know about the aluminum diff. He hasn't had any problems with it as yet, but has a fear of rocks being thrown up and shattering it and stuff. Is this a major concern? Has anyone had similar problems to this?

The Vitara alloy front diff centre will bolt into a sierra housing. All sierra\drover diff centers are iron and very durable (I have never seen or heard of a broken carrier and I have broken just abut everything there is to break on a sierra)

Do you think you could post a piccy or two of this aluminium diffed drover? (The actual diff I meen). It could be a Vitara centre or something as said, but this has me interested. Although he specified wanting to buy a SWB, I'd be tempted to drop a bid on this one if I was after a new project.

I brought my zook just before i turned 16 and modded it up while on my p's to get it going how i wanted it! 
Wheel it stock for a while because they will go further then you think! The only thing is if you mod it too much(Like mines starting to get!) you will not want it as a DD!
Also keep up with the maintenance(I didn't and now it';s off the road for a while!)
BUt yeah get a zook the best 4x4 i have driven off road (driven hiluxs, nearly every model jeep, nissans you name it!) the only thing that comes close is a jeep wrangler!
As for the diff thing mines a drover and both diff pumpkins are dinted to what must be close to the gears!
And theres no leaks or metal shavings or anything(I check every time!)
Get one and get out there on the tracks!

Ok, the confusion is now explained, he was speaking about his vitara that he owned a couple of years ago (didn't say that at the time!!). So there's no random hybrid going on there. I'll be preparing my Volvo for sale over the next few weeks and then she'll be on the market while i look for a nice replacement in the brisbane area.

I was sort of looking forward to seeing some sort of unique bizare arrangement.
