2.7petrol or 3.0 diesel
hey guys just wondering what your thoughts were on the difference between the diesel or petrol.
i am looking at buying this 2000 model petrol hilux as it is at a good price, (cheaper then the diesels) and is pretty much exactly what i want.
i currently own a 93 diesel hilux and have been extremely happy with it. wanted to upgrade to around about the 2000 model, just wondering how they go?
are they as capable offroad as diesel?(only do limited beach driving really)

Basically, heres the difference between petrol and diesel... petrols handle themselves a bit better in terms of straight line speed and accelleration.

The Diesels have much more pull but tend to struggle a bit more up hills (Unless we're talking turbo diesel)

Basically, at the end of the day though, if you can adapt your driving style, the diesel can be just as capable as the petrol and vice versa.

If your happy with a diesel now, then stick with the diesel.

Mates with petty lux's never get 10lts/100kms or better.

The 3RZ engine in the petrol Hi Lux Here .. are a bullet .. really amazing engine, not for towing definately but can push 33" pretty hard with the 4.11 factory gears .. ( at least here )

In the other hand 2000 Hi lUx here come with 3L engine . . I suppose you are refereing to 1KZ-T .. ? over there.

If the answer it's yes .. amazing engine and I let it a little more cpable than the gasser in off road section ..

Anycase I'm diesel lover ..

I had a 2.7 in mine and they are a great motor. They are thirstier than the diesel but in a lot of cases not by much. It depends on your driving style if you want to stay at the speed limit on hills the non turbo 3.0L will drink fuel as they are that gutless you have to flog them to do it. I would never own the non turbo having driven them for work I hate them they are slow, gutless and just a pita for general driving. IMO the extra fuel of the 2.7 was worth every cent.
