Cooper STT Tyres
We own a Nissan GQ just replaced all the body mounts heaps quieter running MT Baja Claws and looking for a quieter MT anyone know what the Cooper STT's are like for road noise etc
I saw this thread in 4 sale and thought I cant respond lol...
I have these in 35 x 12.5 and love em, every where my mates identical GQ goes with Simex ET's, I can go as well. Where yet to find a track we cant both do.....as for noise there a little noisy but nothing like the ET's.
I went from BFG AT's in 35's to these and although climbing stuff wasn't heaps better steering and braking down hill definately was better.

I also have them in 35's and a mate in 33's we both love them. I have had my 60 loaded up to 3.1 GVM on the last trip and aired the rear down to 16 and the front 14lb with no problems. I could have gone lower.
road noise is about the same as a BFG but has way better manners on and off road. And yes before anyone ask's I have owned both.

I have'em in 265/70R16 on the Terrano and 35x12.5R18 on the GQ and love them. The 265's have about 60k km's on them with at least 45% tread left.
My g/f has them as 30x9.5 on the Zook Sierra and this is the best MT type tyre she ever had on it.
Road noise is hardly any louder than the BFG AT's and I let my Terrano run on the Autobahn up to 180km/h from time to time (love that ZD30) with the car still being stable at high speeds.

of course they are......., pretty bold statement isn't it? I better sell mine this week....
here are some tame shots you can expect to get with these, most of the stupid stuff is on video so i only have these handy.
Then again I saw a member on here winch himself up a track on 36 inch TSL swamper's with 6 inch springs and 2 inch body lift, which my car drove straight over on my old BFG all terrains, guess it might have more to do with the driver than just bagging out the tyres lol.

I like them....... as a general use tire, would recommend.
Ok there are tires better suited to specific applications, but I want a tire that works on the road, in sand, on rocks, gravel and yes mud.
So if you like variety in you 4WD driving then they are a good choice

( usual disclaimers )
It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.

I didn;t poersonally think for pure offroading, that the STTs were in the same class as a Simex ET?

3.0L turbo diesel, 4" lift, bud's front housing, track assasin cv's, air lokker front + Rear, beadlock'd 37 stickies, high steer, 15.5" travel ranchos, high pinion diff and coils on the rear

Fair dinkum some people
I have used mine a lot in mud and they are really good. I must admit though I have not used them NOT aired down. You will find people who bag out a tyre havn't used them properly or are to lazy to air down enough or at all. These tyres are very happy at 12-16lb with no beadlocks. Im sure with beadlocks 8lb would be do-able.
Even with my last tyres (37" Bias claws) If I didn't air them down they were hopeless in the mud.
IN SHORT STT"S ARE GREAT IN THE MUD IF AIRED DOWN

excellent in the wet. You can push them hard and they are very predictable.me3@neuralfibre.com wrote:How are they on wet bitchumen compared to an AT design? Slippy slippy?

Re: stts
i agree... i constantly run mine at 30/32 psi on road and 12/16 psi off road and they perform awsome..... (no beadlocks)DR Frankenstine wrote:excellent in the wet. And yes i push the tyres hard as and never had a problem except 1 roll off rim and one torn out valve but that was not the tyres fault...
Would reccommend them.

I went from 33" ST to 35" STT and they are quieter on road. Did Cockpit track recently and they did just as well as the bloke behind me who was twin locked on pedes. I reckon they're great. They do everything you can want and won't deafen you on long trips compared to pedes or ET's or any other similar designed tyres.
I have STT's as well awesome tyre mine have worn a little quicker than i expected but ow well proably has to do with my driving style! lol. 95% chance i will get them as my next tyre but in 35's not 33's.
