Well on Sunday I went on our usual club run, this time though Ourimbah state forest and down Daniel's Point Road in the Wattagans.

After all the hard stuff (i might add no problems the whole day) i was heading out along Wattagan Forrest Drive along a large straight just before it turns into bitumen when the car started to track left, i have it full right lock and nothing happened, so on when the anchor's. She came to rest just before a large embankment that if hit at slightly the right speed would flip the car over.

So i backed her back so i could have a look under the car and what i found was amazing. The Sector shaft that comes out of the P/Steer box had sheared right though just above the pitman arm, as if it was a clean cut, no twisting, no warping, just a clean cut. I never hit anything though the day at all hard nor did i ever touch the steering components on rocks or what not, as i would have felt that though the steering wheel

I have heard of them dying internally though the seals but a clean snap? I will post some pics tomorrow of the pitman arm.

common as on early GQ's, a series 2 GQ KOYO 082 (1994 on?) box will bolt staight on or if you can get a GU KOYO 104, it has a bigger sector shaft again but has the tie rod on top with a drop pitman arm

Mine is a 92 model, and did it.

I have a 2000 GU power steer box in her now where the rod end goes on top, not a problem though, Snake Racing arm lets me swivel the end around to fit, looks stronger.

mine did it last year at the clubkana i launched off the start line an had no control straight into a tree...mine an 88 model... i snaped in the same spot as yours

Just a quick question, on the box, which port is the pressure and which is the return? i have the pressure one connected to the one closest to the front of the car and the return to the one closest to the cab, is this right?

trust me you know, If you have the lines on wrong. Really trust me !!!!!
Got new lines for a mates (steering line was leaking) put them on and the steering wheel would shake violently, then it would go full lock left then full lock right by it self . wapped them over worked a gem. So trust me you know if it right or wrong.
