I have a '90 model and for a while now fuel has been weeping from the fuel pump top cover (just a weep not a major leak). Probably has something to do with change to cleaner diesel.
I remember a thread from some time ago where others had this problem and fixed it by replacing top cover seal- there were no details on fix like can it be done without removing pump, what do you need to be careful with, is there a basic seal kit, Ni$$an part numbers etc.
I don't want to spend heaps on a pump o'haul- not sure how much longer I'll keep it.
By the way- it's going great (Has turbo fitted) just a pain in the butt with this fuel weep.

i have the same problem, but mine is a bit more than a weep. it's because there's no sulphur in diesel fuel anymore and the older pump seals relied on this to be maintained in a functional manner. now no sulphur = corroding seals. you can get the seals replaced for around $300-400 at a shop, or an overhaul for anywhere between $1000-2000. if you didn't have your pump re-done for the turbo, maybe consider the overhaul and mods to more efficiently deliver fuel for turbo requirements and get a boost compensator at the same time. i'm no expert, but there's some timing issue with the pumps when you remove them. if you're not sure what you're doing, take it to a shop. i have also heard that certain special tools are required to do a re-seal.

mate i had this prob bout 4 months ago.. fixed it myself for bout $120 from memory (gasket kit from nissan) mine was just the o ring on the top covers... i didn't have to take the pump off (might of been easier in the end) it's a bit of a tight squeeze... if you leave the pump on once you undo the cover there is a spring holding the cover in place... you need some long pliers to fit in there and unhook it (easier with 2 people, one to hole the cover up) bit figity but can be done... Hope this helps...

i did it a while back to my diesel i had. got a kit top housing kit from a diesel shop for 15bucks. you got to undo the throttle shaft, push it thru the cover as you remove the top cover. replace the oring in the top cover and the throttle shaft, push the throttle shaft back thru the cover as you replace it, there is another lever in the pump for the fuel screw, you will have to line it back up as you refit the cover, it will take some pressure as the lever is under spring pressure. then line back up the splines on the throttle shaft lever and bolt it back on. easy as if you know how, like anything. if you get the throttle shaft lever on wrong it will rev up or not idle properly, just pull it back off and try again in a diff spot. if you think its too much to bite off, as always seek professional help.
