You will NOT get a better swag than this one for Victorian conditions ---

Ive had one for about 25 years and its taken a REAL flogging -- its almost dead now. The story`s that swag could tell

and the tent packs up much smaller

If it is accessible with trailer then we take the camper
Otherwise a tent.
If it is just me then I sleep in my 4wd but have my eye on a swag. Problem is spending $300 for the odd trip. I'd probably get one of these.

Not sure ? --- Give them a ring .
I was talking to the owner many years ago about the different swags on the market. He was saying that "any" canvas is not waterproof - long term. He said eventually ( years down the track ) they will leak. He said, some manufacturers use thick canvas on the top, but all that does is sweat and cause condinsation to form "inside" the swag - wets your sleeping bag. On the Allens swag, they have a removable poly tarp ( cover ) that you tie on ( 30 seconds work ) when it is needed in wet conditions. It works a treat.
Over the years hunting in the High Country, some of the boys have gone off hunting leaving their swags ( different makes ) lying on the ground out in the open. When they have come back at the end of the day a puddle has formed in the middle of the swag and soaked through to their sleeping bag which made for a VERY uncomfortable night. I have never had that happen by useing the poly cover.
Just 3 weeks ago I went for a hunt up in the High Country and we slept in the snow ( yes --- 3 weeks ago ) I used the poly cover and didnt have a problem -- as snug as a bug in a rug, but some of the boys did cause they left their swags out, open to the elements.
I swear by the Allens swags. I reckon if you live in Victoria ( and head up into High Country ) and you need a new swag and you dont get one of these, your a dill.

Atleast your dome tent made it through the weekend.... I had a few sleepless nights after we busted a pole setting it up in the HIGH winds..... everytime I heard a gust of wind coming we'd wait for the tent to collapse on to us. Was quite funny cause the first arvo I was really stressin out worrying that it would collapse... by the last day, I really couldn't give a fark.... and was laughing at it when it was basically on the ground then would spring back up when the wind eased up again.
go the bigW tent
i got the same one... before the zipper broke at willowglen
After busting nearly all the guy rope tags off the tent and burning a hole into it with the gas lantern, not to mention about the 10kg of dust in it..... it got left with the pile of rubbish at the end of the weekend!!!
So I'll be off to buy a more sturdier tent and a double swag in the not too distant future.
When in doubt..... UTE-ERIZE it!!!

As with anything it comes down to what you pay, wise man buys once a poor man buys twice
