What is the run down on Vehicle spec, there seems to be a lot of different info around the traps and on the forums.
For example, I have heard that you can not run with twin winch motors.
I thought Vic Winch is a entry level comp to allow drivers to get experience to allow them to go onto comps like Atteco.

Beware the EVIL GQ
OK we will be careful
We are knocking a bit of rust off the gq and geting quotes on both an oil change and a new oil filter and if the prices are within budgit look out because we are there, unless fuel hits $1.39.99 a litre then we cannot afford to get to Yea. See you soon?

80 series To travel and GQ to play
Hi there Free tucker , I have heard similar things and am trying to find out more as well, I rang Wato yesty and asked him what kind of cars are allowed to run, and I was told to call Al Mac for details as he is doing the scrutineering. I heard that you have to be careful with what winch mods you have and also apparently challenge class cars are not allowed to run ..... even though on the entry form it has a challenge class box to tick!!! If anyone knows any more please put it up on the forum.
I will race again .... one day!

If the rumour about twin winch motors not being acceptable is true, it is a shame that this was not clear on the order form which had boxes for both Challenge and Trophy Class.
This event is important not only for first timer but also as a platform for drivers that are improving skills and building up the truck for the main competitions.
I have done one Vic Winch before and really enjoyed the event, learnt heaps.
I recently competed in Ateco round 2 and was ill prepared, (me and the truck). The Vic winch is the only real opportunity to get the preparation needed to play in the main comps.
The fact that two classes are in the CCDA specs, I dont understand why we don't just run them rather than re-invent the wheel. This way we cater for newbees as well as the wannabees.

As far as i know after speaking to Mike Smith some months ago winch mods are allowed (BOGGA had twin motors last year). So as far as i'm concerned the cheques been banked so where there. cheers BIGEARS DADfreetucker wrote:What is the run down on Vehicle spec, there seems to be a lot of different info around the traps and on the forums.

From my understandings Bigears.... Its up to the event organiser to set the rules he wants people to abide by , this year being Dandy Rangers and they only want trophy style trucks! So as much as a few of us have winch mods .... we can only choose one to use on the weekend, The next big problem is how are the marshalls going to know what one your using? and if your running 12 volt or 24 and if you have your twin motor sitting on the winch if one is running or both ? and if you have free airspool is it a car that was allowed to use it ? Marshalls will have to be really clued up and know the specs of the winch on the car and what each car is using in the event! And as for speaking to Mike Smith a few months ago he is the CCDA that only sanctions the event doesnt make the decisions for the event. I spoke to Mike yesty and he clearly told me that we can only use one (1) winch mod. We need one set of rules that dont get changed five times before an event!!!! There is a meeting tonight and I'm pretty sure this will be a HOT topic so there should be more up here by then.
Just a Question..... I run a challenge class Truck and am wanting to enter the Vic Winch. Who else has modded their truck to be Challenge class that have entered this Comp?

An important point needs to be considered in this debate.
If the purpose of Vic Winch (Winch comp) is to attract and keep people in the sport to enter and successfully compete in the main comps, it needs to cater for first timers and 2nd, 3rd and 4th timers building up their trucks to be competitive.
It is too big a jump to go from trophy class in an event run once a year to competing in full on comps.
We need two classes and ideally an event run more than once a year.
Why not run the vic winch pre or post main comps, on the tracks (or parts of them) already set up, it would save work and give the up "newbees" and "up & coming" competitors a chance to build up skills 2 or 3 times a year.
Restricting mods within challenge class trucks is not the answer , these guys need supporting as well as the newbees.

This years VWC will have 2 classes being trophy & challenge. They will both compete along side each other and the event will have a winner from each class. Thats good for you boys with the challenge class trucks with all your winch mods. No need to de-modify your winch. ALL vehicles will now have to fit into either class, and yes you can have a challenge class car with a 4 point roll cage as roll bars are event specific. On this sideof it you will all need a log book and for those that haven't yet got one yet will need to organise with a scruitineer from the CCDA web site to sign it off. Oh and don't leave it till the last minute to do so.

It's true what Freetucker is saying , its good to voice our opinions but we need to do it in the right way and its not REALLY on this forum its at the meetings that counts!!! We need to also understand that the CCDA is the reason we are allowed to race! So lets help them help us!!

4.4.17 Winches
All vehicles must be fitted with one (and only one) operational powered winch when competing in an event where winching is required.
Electric winches may have some additional bracing, improved bearings, improved lubrication and an alternative DC motor with upgraded controls, but must remain in its original configuration.
PTO and Hydraulic winches they must be as designed by the supplier.
No twin motors or air free spool. Spoze 6HP is allowed. 24 Volt comes under electrical

These rules for classes need to be looked at carefully my little old 40 still with it's original 2F engine on leaf springs falls in to Challenge class, but by no means are we in my opinion a challenge class vehicle.MYTTUF wrote:Here is the winch spec. for Trophy class.MYTTUF wrote:I think it says that none are allowed in trophy class but I'll be getting this clarified when Al Mac returns from Tamworth next week.

No easy solution though, I would look at the rules been more about performance up grades rather than physical up grades.

friday night stages will be basically the same as engel . couple of minor changes. 1 fast off camber corner. The stage that Andrew flipped onto his lid was the night stage up the gully. It hasnt been changed from the Engel.Ruffy wrote:If the first three stages are the same as the engel (which i heard they were???) then i don't know how.matt.mcinnes wrote:I can imagine a lot of off camber stuff up there at Vic Winch this year not too many trees to hit thoughbig bundy wrote:apparently Cassar rolled on stage one today, thats a msg i received from a mate who is there for marshalling day!
