OZ people interested in a rock racing round ??

Post by Webbie »

O.k l am interested as too how many people would genuinuely be interested in a rock racing event , details would be made avialble as l got more feed back, this event would have too cover its own costs being new in the country , looking too those who may be interested.
This event would be run over 1 day maybee 2 probly in northern VICTORIA but the event would have too be self sufficent due to having no sponsors but, rest assured it would attract some seroius attention ,via media and press ,please let me know if you would be interested at this stage l am just looking at the interest.
l will look at this seriously if l get 6 or more teams. CHEERS.
Lockers or Knockers ,both will make for fun.

webbie this sounds like a great idea but check out the restrictions on public liability insurance, it all changes dramatically when unregisterred unroadworthy vehicles are racing side by side in a timed event.

from what i understand teams in the states have to have their own insurance cover to make those events happen.

yes this will be looked at seriously but first we need numbers, the propertys are the easy part ,insurance and sponsorship is the next thing.
l think it would be wise to have comp styles rigs or truggys in one class(trophy truck class ) and Outlaw class for the anything that is buggy like ,but there would probly be no tyre restictions for either class.
This way some of the vehicles you see at TTC would be able to compete.

l need as much feed back as l can on this subject and wether or not lts got enough interest to start formulating rules and so on.
Lockers or Knockers ,both will make for fun.

Don't you think WE Rock and OzRock are already struggling to get off the ground in terms of sponsors, media coverage and spectators?

This also spreads the competitors out across yet another class. Those with bodied vehicles won't last in a rock racing event if the terrain starts getting extreme. Those with buggies at present just aren't setup for high speed stuff, jumps etc. We'd be looking at a new type of vehicle for this sort of event, and I know that personally I don't have the funds to keep building new vehicles.

The US has the population size to support a number of classes and codes of off road events, Australia isn't really at that point.

Dependant on how badly it's going to smash up the vehicle i might have one that i'd run in a registered class :)

I think that this has lots of merit. With a good plan of action, I could see something like this being run from the likes of Eastern Creek or similar.

You'd be crazy to attempt it in a bodied rig. It's basically offroad racing but harder!
