I have had that much if not more in my old diesel. Had it up to the lip when the air cleaner was taken out.
Nissan air intakes are crap. I had what I thought was fully sealed mine with sealastic and hi-temp gasket goo. It still leaked. And it wasnt coming in thru the nipple thingo on the pre-cleaner. First time it happened to me. I only pulled over cos it didn't sound right and was abit lumpy when trying to rev.
To the best of my knowledge its still going. But I was lucky.
My new old car is going to be sealed heaps better I hope.

Fk yeah that is lucky mate...
I've always had it drilled into water + diesel = nevaaaahhh, unless you've spent time with a rool good snorkey, I'd even avoid splashing too fast through puddles.
There was a bloke up home, whom nosed into a river and bang crash - had a snorkle too. Was a nice white gq shorty with purple barwork, 4" lifte and 33's - non turbo. Booked it in for a rebuild and, because of all the extraneous stuff like alternators and starters, it ended up costing him > $10k so.
But then there is your story which is always good to hear, a drop of water doesn't necessarily = dead.
