I've recently acquired a 93 GXL 4500 Petrol EFI. Want to put it on gas. Can anyone share their experience of a new injection install ?
thanks

hi if your running a snorkle be careful as they can play havoc with the lpg. the extra induction of the snorkle makes them stall and fart all the time .they will run fine when standing still but when you take off and are travelling at speed and then brake to a stop they will play up. i had mine at lpg mechanic many times wondering why it was doing so but he didnt know and eventually someone on this thread helped me out and it worked fine when i disconnected the snorkle., this can also be remidied by using an equalising hose that runs from your aircleaner box back to the lpg mixer.this equalises the air flow through the system .other than that the car ran absolutely fine on lpg very minimal power decrease and alot cheaper to run. from memory i think i was getting about 320 ks to a 90 litre useable tank hope this helps i really think its worth the money for the conversion
I briefly saw an injected 80 on holiday Last week. Coudn't tell what it was - I think It was OMVL Dream II - didn't get much feedback from the owner though. I have booked my vehicle in for a Romano sequential injection system .... some basic information here ->

Is this a non-injection experience ? I am not planning to do a snorkle for quite a while, but I would be suprised if there was not a greater capacity to avert this with injection and a well connected gas computer ?muddy80s wrote:hi if your running a snorkle be careful as they can play havoc with the lpg. the extra induction of the snorkle makes them stall and fart all the time .they will run fine when standing still but when you take off and are travelling at speed and then brake to a stop they will play up. i had mine at lpg mechanic many times wondering why it was doing so but he didnt know and eventually someone on this thread helped me out and it worked fine when i disconnected the snorkle., this can also be remidied by using an equalising hose that runs from your aircleaner box back to the lpg mixer.this equalises the air flow through the system .other than that the car ran absolutely fine on lpg very minimal power decrease and alot cheaper to run. from memory i think i was getting about 320 ks to a 90 litre useable tank hope this helps i really think its worth the money for the conversion
I have the Eurogas common rail vapour gas injection sysyem with an individual gas injector per cylinder, on my 96 GXL 80 series, this system I fitted recently and was an upgrade from the "standard" gas system set up. I can confirm a significant improvement in engine performance, smoothness of driveability and economy. Biggest difference was midrange performance from 2000rpm to 3500 and would pull a lot better up hills while cruising on Hwy's. Economy went from 510km's for 115ltrs to 575 kms. The car is fitted with a snorkle and has never faulted on both gas systems I never had or have the symptoms some members say they have had. The other advantage is petrol performance and economy returned to how it once was prior to the original Gas set up. As for negatives there is significant wiring from this system alone that adds a lot of clutter to the engine bay, and the other is the cost $$$$$$$ the jury is still out on whether the cost can be justified by the added improvements

Hi, I have also been considering having the IMPCO system on my 80 series updated to an injection system. Although this system has given me no problems and has made my cruiser cheap to run. I do notice the power diference, especially at higher revs where the power drops right off, due I think to the flow being restricted by the smaller throat size on the IMPCO mixer. Can you give me an estimate of the cost of such a update? The system I have now is less than a year old.
