PUT UP OR SHUT UP

Post by Strange Rover »

BJ has proposed a PUT UP OR SHUT UP event. I think this is a great idea.

So when? where? and what sort of format?

I think that this can be BIG

If you can run it like the US events that would be cool, if there is enough interest in this I can organise a location and will be able to probably get a decent amount of prize money sorted for the top 5 places ( $100 to $1000 cash) . The place i have in mind I had a quick look at with POS and 2 of the areas would be perfect for this style event, an escarpment 100m in diameter 20m high with an array of 1m steps and ledges all the way to the top . Or the waterfall area which when flowing is up to 20m wide the stadium type area is 120m in diameter and has excellent spectator visibility.

Anyway I would love to help organise this event, but better still i would love to be first to enter, as i dont often say much so shuttin up is not an issue. Maybe some of the other "try-hards" around here would take up our offer , as i know myself and the other OUTERLIMITS boys are more than ready to PUT UP or SHUT UP!!!!!!!!

BRING IT..........

i dont think "event"

more like SESH, and just do like freestyle driving

i dont want to seem like i am planning it for fear that he sues me, he sound like a whining biatch, and im sure that as soon as we get there, he will have problems, like scratchy trees, air conditioning not working, seats are uncomfortable, the food is cold, and his pu$$y will be sore

but im keen for it, to talk the talk you must drive and break yo shiat

wah wah, my pu$$y hurts, my IFS wont flex, go get your handbag and go to the nancy boards!!

Cheezy sorry mate, itll be up this way!!

DAN its a difficult event, basically drive at something undrivable, closest person to the course in the shortest possible time wins!!

MASSIVE amounts of CARNAGE!!

SHAIT YEH, PUT UP OR SHUT UP, SOUNDS AWESOME.

We should run it just for fun though, have prizes like:

Most dedicated drive.

Most air time.

Biggest skirt.

Most CARNAGE.

PUCKER FACTOR (biggest hole ripped in the seat)

Just choose a weekend, drive like freaken launatics and have a shait load of fun!!!!!

I think January would be a good time, we were thinking of going somewhere anyway.

I throw this date in and see what yas think!

11th and 12th of january!!! (LANDCRUISER PARK)

No classes, but we'll find tracks for everyone to have a go and everyone can sit around and cheer and yahoo (and for the spectators, we might even have some dedicated drivers so you guys don't have to worry about getting about the park)

Hows that sound, I know it wont suit everyone but lets give it a go.

I'm keen for a good time drive and to wheel with some of you guys.

if the cars who turn up for the ascc agree you we can run the open modified as a put up or shut up. it's ok buy me and mick wont mind.

single obsticles (no whitchs hats just go for it, get over the obsticle if you can)

most obsticles completed wins. hows that

If you know the movie you will get the picture EVIL.

Spoke to Glen Yesterday and hes keen to run a PUT UP OR SHUT UP event at his short course comp at Cruza Park so I think that this will be a goer. We are all going to be there anyway so we may as well GET IT AWN!!

Now for the format and rules. This is what I have been thinking -

The competition will be held over a number (say 6 to 10 for example) single short obstacles. An obstacle would be something like a short hill climb, a big rock ledge (like in mini wiraba at TT), a double step up (like in rocky horror at TT), a big trench or something like a mud pit. Could be man made or natural but only the very hardest part of the track is included (so no mucking around driving over easy shiat)

Each obstacle has a DNF time (this will be short say a minute or two)

Obstacle will be marked out with witches hats or something (sorry glen)

To successfully complete an obstacle you must drive from the start to the finish of the obstacle in one go. No stopping , no reversing, no winching, no falling over, no hitting the markers, no nothing. You got to drive it clean in one motion. If you have an unsuccessful attempt you just go back to the start and have another go and keep trying untill you run out of DNF time. If you carnt drive it in the DNF time then you just DNF on that obstacle. And if you do drive the obstacle it is recorded as being driven and the number of attempts you needed to drive it is also recorded.

The winner is the person who can drive the most obstacles. If there is an equality of driven obstacles then the person who used the least number of attempts on their driven obstacles is the winner.

Note that the number of attempts on an obstacle that was DNFed is not recorded so that the competitor is encouraged to have as many attempts as they can in the DNF time until they drive it and they are not penalised for having a heap of attempts on an obstacle that they DNF. Its just recorded as a DNF and thats it.

So what do you guys reckon. Simple enough??.

Maybe a complication would be to allow reversing and stopping within an obstacle and a reverse could be counted as an attempt (If you allow reversing then I dont think you need to worry about penalising stopping if you want to stop and just sit there and have a think then thats fine)

I wanted it to be a team event, so more than just one car remaining competitive over a set time, a team of four vehicles, must maintiant the competitiveness!

Another reason on the team thing is that the way I see this event being planned now is basically going to be

Sam
Ruff
Me
Boatlux
1Mad
V8zuki

will be the only guys who will enter, BASICALLY the outerlimits crew, and it will become just:
outerlimits VS. outerlimits

how gay

i drive with you guys all the time, we all know what each rig can and will do, i wanna drive against some new faces, maybe a whole additional team!

maybe C.O.R.E would enter a team?
maybe Queensland Rock Crawlers could enter a team?
Maybe Jeep mad4x4 and TJpete could enter a team?
and an outerlimits team, or 2 outerlimits teams

thus we have 4 teams, of say 2 cars or 3 cars or 4 cars!

and you have to get a minimum amount of vehicles through the obstacles!

I reckon a team format will be the go!

SO

rock crawlers get your team together
CORE get it going
jeepmad get your team going
and we'll get our team going!!
hands and mums dont count!!!

Nah i reckon one on one. We(outer limits) can make teams ourselves easy. But most of the other guys you have mentioned i dont think would have enough guys to make more than one or two teams. Also a team event then starts to get complicated in the scoring.

Yeah one on one (i know you like more than one on you at a time BJ), but there simply wont be enough to make it a team event YET!!!

Sam, the rules sound cool and look forward to it.

I think this will be awesome fun!!

This is going to be awsome
No spoters
No-one hanging off a strap to hold you up
No-one to hold your hand

Just get it good.

Is this the start of the Outerlimits war on each other?

Who realy has it?

Who doesnt?

Have you got the balls?

We all know how we wheel together on weekends but who will go that extra step?

Where is the limit?

Ive been there and it hurt my roof :D

Will you go there too?

Just "BRING IT"

ok men I think we have a good idea for how this should run. I think i should find enough for 4 hours saturday afternoon starting at 1.00 thru to 4.30-5.00, this track should be long enough to run say 10 cars taking 20 min each. that is 3hours 20 min running to time plus extra time for line up and exit of the track. what do think, please debate this if you thionk of another way, I would probably have a few extra obsticles to use in the event if we don't have ten cars. on the other hand if we have more than ten cars we can reduce the amount of obsticles to be driven. in the event of the field not completing the track we will run the same as the ASCC and finish sunday morning.

with the P/A system we can keep both competitors and spevctators informed and up to date.

I have a black board to record scores as we go, what do you think, We would only record the scores only after the field has completed a section.

saturday night under lights, are you up for this as well ?

remember this is your comp and we should have our rules in place to start,

Obsticle marking I would use a concrete pad formed from a pot plant with a pvc tube painted yellow. if the pot is knocked over it is easy to see and saves the arguement later. any other surgestions ?

the area to be used should be easy for the spectator to get to and within easy reach of the competitor camping area,

I am going to cruiser park for new year and will be there for a few days to put in tracks and start marking others.

if you have paticular types of obsticles in mind let me know so i can include them in the planning.

time limits on each obsticle should be just that and not included in scoring the idea of timing should be to keep the cars moving along and not bogging down the course with slow progess. what do thinh of this ?

sunday morning do you want to have an extra hard section, just one only,

toy with this we have a few weeks to get it together

is this the vision you have of put up or shut up.

Bloody great work Glen!!!!!!

Is there going to be a different course for stock, modified and silly buggers?

The markers sound really GOOD, they use a similar sort of thing in the states.

The PA is great ( will they be talking when the rigs are going though, as this is a great way of getting the crowds going)

I think up-date the scores at the end of each stage is the way to go as it builds tension. If it was a running total it would be unfare to the first drivers as others could work out what they need to drive just to get in front .

THE NIGHT STAGE WOULD BE GREAT FUN!!!!

AND YES TO THE EXTRA HARD SECTION ON SUNDAY MORNING.

SOUNDS AWESOME :P

Glen the only prob i see with this being run on Sat is that if any of us are also competing in the ASCC then we may(most of us will  ) Brake and not be able to finish the ASCC comp.
I speak for myself but i invision this to be hard, REAL HARD Like highway to hell kinda hard or the Bum Crack out at Ormeau when we first drove it. Not something that is drivable by the average Joe.
And i think a couple of witches hats with a tennis ball tied to the top is the go. Concrete wont last long if we start running it over and it may damage tyres. With a witches hat and a tennis ball there is no doubting if you hit it.

I would like to compete in both Put UP or Shut Up and the ASCC.

It may be better to get the Open Class vehicles stages over on sat and run this on sunday?

And Saturday night im allways up for it. Even when it was pissing down rain and there was no chance of getting across the logs i tried

Anyway im keen which ever way we decide to run it.
