What Rim off set for GU?

Post by EricB »

Hi Guys

Just got myself a GU last week and im starting to plan the mods.
I tried my GQ rims on for size 15x8 cruiser off set with 33x12.5.
They filled the guard nicely and stuck out a tiny bit.
Id like to go with 33"s and have them stick out enough to be at least flush with the side to protect the car a little more.

Have heard a few guys say 15s fit on a GU but crap gets stuck in between the disks sometimes.

Should I put 305x70x16 on the stock rims
or
16x8 Cruiser rims with the same size tyre?

Cheers
Eric

I ran 35" tyres on my GU with the Landcruiser offset and the side wall just protruded from the guard. They did a good job of keeping the panels off the embankments.

Typically the 15's will be a tight fit on the GU's but you can do it (at least on the diesels).
Although I think you're better off spending a bit extra and sticking with the 16" rims.

Thanks

Yeah sounds like Cruiser 16x8 are the go.

I might sell the 35" Simex's that I have on 15x8 and put it towards the new rims and rubber.

Your GU should have come with 16"x8"s.

Stick with them and chuck 305s on them, will be all good.

Do the 305s come out to the edge of the flare on the standard GU 16x8s?

What about on flex is the extra off needed?

My speedo is already 4km over at 60km according to my GPS with the standard tyre. Should be 4km under ;)

Might have to get the speedo done too

Maybe just go the standard rims with 315x75x16

I run 36"x12.5" Simex pedes on standard rims, they are level with the edge of the flares.

I think on a wagon you may need the extra offset to stop some of the rubbing on the inner guard if you're running a 35 x 12.5".

Even with the offset and 3" suspension & 2" body lift, mine still rubbed

I just did the arithmetic in my head and didn't worry about adjusting it.

Marks adapters have a speedo correction box that lets you switch between 2 different tyre sizes. (I may be able to get you one cheaper if interested ;) )
