Challenger Keyless Entry

Post by Lucky Phil »

I have a 2001 Challenger with central locking, I have no remotes for it
although I have been told that I can use any challenger or Pajero remote as long as I program it to the vehicle.
If I get hold of a second hand one can I program it myself or do I have to take it to the dealer.
thanks Philip

Hey Lucky Phill.
I have a 2001 model Challenger witout the remotes. I ended up buying a remote from Ebay and took it to a dealer to get it programmed. After two hours they gave up saying their MUTT was having problems. So a couple of weeks later I went to another dealer who after an hour trying to get the Mutt to communicate came back and said I don't think it has the keyless module......and it didn't.
So some earlier 2000-2001 models did not have the module in the rear quarter panel for remote locking.
Get your VIN no and check with Mitsu first. If you do have the module you can use the Pajero ones (not Magna) as well. Only Mitsubishi can set the remote to the vehicle and should cost around $16- $20.

You won't see it. It is in the passenger side rear quarter panel.

BTW hope the fishing is good over there, coming to get me some trout on Friday.

had a similar problem when I broke the remote for the central in my old feroza. I was told that I could program an aftermarket one if I had an original for it to learn from..... very useful  Never did fix it.

An aftermarket remote console could easily be wired into your existing set up though and cost well less than $100 if you diy :)

Otherwise I hope you find a useful dealer.... :?
