2007 Rainforest Challenge - Malaysia
I am very pleased to announce that my "Midlifecrises" is registered and now being tested before being shipped to Malaysia.
We had a sponsors unveiling on Saturday and a few drinks and a bbq afterwards.
Testing will consist of being my drive vehicle at the EFSXI which starts in 2 weeks. Then final prep before Round 3 of the ARB XWC then we load vehicle at the end of October for their trip to Malaysia. We will then next see them on the 25th November (I hope) before starting the RFC on 1st December.
John Butler & Steve Huddy in "Butler Built Racing' MWB Cruiser is well and truly under way, with many events already under it's belt, should not be a problem at all.
Both John & Steve are very experienced competitors and will do very well in Malaysia. Lance & myself have not competed together since '99 RFC where we had a shocker, but then when we went back in 2000 the vehicle went real well, but alas we were officials. We will have to learn very quickly to stay up with John & Steve. Also the main reason for keeping up with Butler Racing is that they have added a 60 lt fridge in the back.
Don't forget we have container space available for 1 vehicle, if you are interested give me a call (0418745 830). I can also offer a special entry fee to the RFC. (Budget $10k and you would be able to do it)
I would like to thank all the sponsors and supporters that have made this trip and my "Midlifecrises" possible. We will do you proud.
Cheers
David

Definitely not!! This one was not in this years obc in any disguise. It is however similar to the WAECO rig from a couple of years ago.rover1 wrote:nice

Bloody great job Dave and helpers.

No it was not at the OBC this year, part of the cab may have been in years past.
There is only part of the cab section of the old Waeco used in buildup.
This was built from the ground up. If you want to see some photos of how it started go to www.xtreme4x4sport.com.au and look at "Project Xtreme" it will give you more of an idea on total build up.
Still have work to do when it gets back from the EFS XI. I am very pleased the way it feels at the moment, after a weeks driving in the park.
Rear winch will be modified 8274 High Mount, front is also an 8274 with wider drum & airfree spool fitted with Gigglepin shafts, gears and twin motor top hat (I am also Queensland agent for these parts) check out www.gigglepin4x4uk.plus.com for more info on this great product.

"Butler Racings" MWB Landcruiser and "Project Xtreme (MIDLIFECRISES)" MWB Patrol, were loaded today and on their way to Malaysia.
It is a bit strange not working on the vehicle at night.
Will keep you all informed of what happens at the RFC.
We fly out on 25th Nov and get vehicles from port 26th Nov ready for start 1 Dec.
Cheers
David (MMM) on behalf of Team Queensland.
Many thanks to all the people that have made it possible getting these 2 vehicles to Malaysia.

RFC 2007
Will get some photo's of Johns car up here asap.
Even after he has been competiting all year he has put together a very nice looking and well prepared vehicle for the 2007 RFC.
His is finished and ready to race (apart from stickers) and has been race proven over the years, Steve & John will be a very tough team out there.
I still have 1/2 to a full day to finish doing silly little things. I have already got some workshop floor to work on when the vehicle get there.
After mine is finished and both vehicles washed and polished we will arrive at the Motel ready to go.
All I can say we will do our best over there competiting against some of the best teams on offer from everywhere around the globe.
Our main agenda is to complete the event and to do our best. Lets see what happens.
Cheers

Rainforest Challenge
This time Sunday afternoon if all goes well we will be doing the finishing touches to our vehicles before we take them to the RFC Hotel in KL for vehicle checks. If this does not happen we will be at the Hotel checking out the competition, waiting to get our vehicles on Monday.
Just had an email from an expat Aussie RFC official based in KL.

" Its been raining watertanks here – I believe the rain has already started"
So all is looking good for this years RFC.
John, Steve & myself fly out Saturday night and arrive Sunday morning, Lance will follow early in the week.
Clay Mongan is also playing codriver for Wong (local & past Outback entrant) in his BJ.
As my webmaster is shutting up shop early for Christmas I will try to keep everyone informed of what is happening here. Be aware that we will be in the jungle 90% of the time, but when I do find a computer I will update.
Again on behalf of Team Queensland, I would like to thank all our sponsors and supporters that have made this possible, and a very big thanks to the Team we left behind, Glen & Anita Teichmann who even when they had to call it off still put in a 110% in supporting the rest of the Team get to the RFC, thanks guys.
Cheers

Re: RFC
Thanks Wayne, I have just returned from work and checked out the link, and with all the water over there it makes the cancellation of the outback challenge seem a bit wimpish (of course I know different circumstances).Smithy jnr wrote:For those following the event there is information on the 2007 RFC at this web link

But seriously I hope all competitors and Officials etc are able to get out safely.
Thanks again for the info on the web link.
Cheers Duncan
