Anyone modified a Hilux Load Proportion Valve??

Rich,

there should be a small rubber grommet on the back end of the drum assembly. remove this grommet and you adjust from there. The LPV adjustment works when there is load in the back of the tray/tub and adjust the amount of force to the back brakes accordingly. I do not thin it would matter too much when the back of the vehicle is empty, thou correct me if Im wrong somebody.

Mines (07 4x4 SR) lifted just over 2 inchesin the back and was adjusted accordingly, going another inch up very soon in the rear and still have another inch of adjustment on the long adjusting screw thats there.

you can also adjust the lspv at the other end at the chassis if you loosen the lspv you can move it up or down to change the pressure

There is an adjustment but it is only meant for std brake feel

Thanks guys for your help.

For the life of me I can't find any grommit on the rear of the Drum Brakes to adjust them.
In the vehicle specifications it says the brakes in the rear are self adjusting, so I wonder if that means that they can't be done manually...?

I think the way the arm connects to the DIff housing for the LPV sensor is different in my model also, just one bolt that pivots and the bolt goes through an eye on the bottom end of the rod....

Where that rod is mounted to the diff move that point up as per your lift should have 2 12mm bolts there from memory. the gromets is a long but skinny oval just under where your brake line and blead nipple go into the wheel cyl if there is no rubber there it's been lost and there will just be a open slot. there only self adjusting by name if is all clean and 0 amount of crap in there they may work but best bet is to tweak them up every now and again

I've noticed a notable difference in my rear brakes since fitting the extended plate, but it still needs some fine tuning. I'm glad I went with the extended plate option and didn't cut it and zippy tie it!!
