C9 fluid level question

Post by DL »

Hi erudite gents,

C9 behind Chev has done 40k kms with no dramas. Last couple of weeks was slow first thing in morning getting drive in drive (or reverse). Bit intermittent, at worst 5 secs.

Have always had trouble getting a consistent reading on the dipstick from reco C9 when hot in park, etc.

Anyway I now have about an extra 300ml of Dexron 3 in the thing (doesn't leak) and it is showing slight overfill on the stick. The drive prob has gone and it seems all else is good. Great shifts as always.

Question is how accurate are these dipsticks in these heritage boxes?

TIA, DL

I run a C9 in my 600hp Stroker Windsor, and with all the rocking and rolling of the motor, it takes a few goes to get a reading on the dipstick, as it sort of splashes the fluid around in the dipstick tube, but it works out ok after a few goes.

Accurate enough, you'll know when you've really overfilled it, you'll start blowing Tx fluid everywhere out the breather :D
