Question is, are hilux diffs wider than the vitara, drum to drum ?
I want to get a swb vit and use hilux diffs front and rear.

vitara rear diff
Yeah the Vitara is supposed to be slightly wider, but the difference can easily be made up on wheel offset anyway.... not something to wory excessively about.
Remember that the Hilux diffs are gonna be heaps taller gearing unless you get aftermarket Ring and Pinion sets or risk using the Hiace 5.1:1 centres. Even the short 4.88s are still about 5% worse than vit gearing.
When you combine this with taller gearing from the rubber, you're gonna face issues that are hard to get around without a significant cash injection - possibly bigger/blown/EFI engine, dual tcase, Calmini R&P....
I know that with my SWB Vit with 5.12"s and 31" BFG's my gearing is really marginal even for highway use, hence the dual tcase discussions I have been having.
Low range is really not even worth talking about ... how about 9kph in low 1st 2000rpm....
