I have a 1999 Rodeo 2.8 Turbo diesel with 302000km on it. The other day on the way home, going up a hill, it suddenly went gutless. Checked latter that day and found lots of crud in fuel/water seperator, and a largish peice stuck in the small reed/check valve in the head of the seperator. Thinking that i found the problem, i cleaned this out, new fuel filter, cleaned tank and fuel lines etc.
Now it looses power badly at about 2500 rpm and will not rev over 3000 rpm in 4th gear. Up to 2500 it runs fine and feels good, but when it hits 2500 its like taking your foot of the throttle. There is no decernable smoke from the exhaust, but fuel econanmy seems to have dropped off. There is also a noise from the turbo (i think), that sound a bit like a blow off valve the local hoons fit to there skylines etc. I pulled the turbo hoses and the impellers spin free with no 'slop'. I checked boost (not under load) - 10 psi.
Any sugestions would be greatly appreciated.
