I have decided to do 'the right thing' and put some recovery points on the Vitara instead of the tie-down points.
Problem is I cant find anywhere to put them!
At the front, all along the front of the chassis is not flat - so I can't put them there.
At the read, the only place I can see is where the tow bar is mounted - So I'd have to remove the tow bar.
Can someone with a Vitara post up some pics or details where they mounted theirs? I was hopeing to have 2 at front and 2 at rear so I can do the tree trunk protector between them to share the load (The guys I pull out are Pajero/Surf)
Cheers
Chris

Additional Vitara Recovery Points?
Are you a decent welder? If so, get some 6-8mm fish plate, cut a shackle-pin sized hole in it and weld on to your chassis at the appropriate place.
Alternatively, I dont see why you cant just buy a couple of those recovery hooks from Repco etc. and bolt them to the underside of your chassis. IIRC, the front of the vit chassis slopes downwards. I dont see why this wouldnt work.

That is the problem - Because they are not flat, there is not enough room for the hooks to mount correctly. They dont sit flush.v840 wrote: Alternatively, I dont see why you cant just buy a couple of those recovery hooks from Repco etc. and bolt them to the underside of your chassis. Ok, imagine these letters represent the 4 sides of your chassis (frontal perspective). From what you're saying, surfaces A & D are rounded yes?
Why not use B or C instead? You could even weld a cross member in between the two chassis rails and mount to that. Im still unsure as to what exactly the problem is. Maybe post some pics?
