It's not suzuki specific, but there's a few points made by people about heavily arched springs being far to stiff to get any travel out of.
Moral to the story - it's best not to try to lift your car using the leaf springs.

Yes, you'd have to question the flex in the springs when you read this statement:
"...This system uses our shackle reversal system combined with the CALMINI 3 inch springs for maximum axle wrap control...."

I am on a few US mail lists as well .. The calmini 5 inch combo lift seem to be pretty expensive, does not offer a that much flex and for a 5 inch lift will still limit you to about a 31 inch tyre doe to firewalll issues .. ( S/R tyre moves back on compression) and the kit does not move the axle far enough forward to stop this .. ..
Aslo if you do get it to flex better (most dropout as it the kit does come with extemded bumpstops from memory) you will be looking at a front shaft with extra slip joint travel ..
If you are after a mild setup that will run a 31-33 tyre look at either a "low" spring over or a set of leaves with a mild lift say 2 inch and a 2 inch body lift .. less lift better flex and more room for rubber..
A S\R unless you are are looking to make signifigant changes to the entire drive line (steering, firewall mods etc) a normal "lift kit" is a better deal IMHO ..

go into rocky road out fitters i got there springover kit and did it myself it will be heaps cheaper than that calmini kit. it cost me about $850 US and came with an awesome high steer kit (ott stage 2), all new shocks, a rear shock mount that lets you adjust angle of shocks and all the spring over bits, im very happy with it.

coil kit not ready yet. You will hate driving on three inch springs you might aswell drive a jack hammer.2' springs are about $250-300.

That price is for the kit itself so you still have to install it yourself which to me looks like a complete pain in the arse after checking out what their fully 'bolt on' kit includes......sam and micks price includes the cost of parts and installation and im certain would work a lot better

Stockman lives in Tassie, so including installation or not, it may not be the easiest of modifications to perform / arrange

they say it provides 25'' of articulation with 31''tyres and takes 4-6 hours to install..

Jump on a few of the US boards and aska few of the guys who have used the calmini kit ... get first hand opinions from the people who ise it .. not the marketing jargon from those who sell it ...
Personlly save your $$ get a small lift spring (OME) and a bodylift .. all very simple works great and using easy to replace aussie parts 4 inch lift (with modded shock mounts) lots of flex and still quite friendly on the street ...

I was chatting with a Guy in the USA on Yahoos SUV's Trucks & Vans. He has had the Calmini 5" for a long while. He not happy with the stiffness of the suspension, it still picks up wheels, when others dont. I thought they needed time to bed in, but he had them for over 5 years, christover.

Yeah, you're probably right... should be fine after 6 years...
I have run this suspension now for about 8 months. I am running it with 33's and a 1 inch body lift and recon it works great. The springs are a bit stiff but I have been told they do settle after awhile. As far as flex goes, it maybe due to the bigger rubber, but I recon it works really well.
I paid $1750 for mine which came with everything. I choose this setup because it suited what I was looking for.
As I cannot weld very well and have poor engineering skills, a pre-made bolt on kit was exactly what I was looking for. Took about 6 hrs at a casual rate for me and a mate to strip the old gear off and put on the new stuff.
Rides well aswell!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does it come anywhere close to the advertised 26 inches of travel ?? (from what I can gather the way that calmini measure the flex, a stock suzuki has around 26 inches of travel as well .. )

i know a fella with the calmini 5"lift runs 32" tyres , looks good except for the eeeextra long front mounts, which will reduce your approach angle , and he drops his front drive shaft occasionly. i'd say he must go thru some uni's as well due to the diffs not being rotated to suit the 5" lift .
who cares how much flex you get when youve just gotta get out and remove both ends of your drive shaft and reinstall it as one unit again ?
unless you plan on just driving up travel index ramps leave it on the shelf.

I have never actually got a tape and measured the travel so I can't honestly tell you. I will do it when I am back in Perth next week.
With the front driveshaft, the kit comes with two spacers for the front, so it should be long enough. Anyway it works for me, it gives me height, what I recon is pretty good travel and was easy to install.
Aslo I at first I got some vibes from the rear but I put in some wedges and it seemed to fix it up.
I will get some pics of my mates comp and post them soon.
