hey Todd , Just go off road racing.
I have just come back from 2 weeks in WA being part of a service crew for Australian Safari.
with not a lot of work you could go racing. speeds of 180kp/h and lots of drifting!!
you just need to stop being lazy and get a cams licensce and get you car to comply. it is well built so it wont need much.

see ya at next years Safari !!!

Those event were run by Allan Lawson. He has just run one the other weekend after his "Yaraka Event" was postponed.

I believe that between him and Landcruiser Mountain Park they are running a Series next year for these type of vehicle's.

If you are interested give the park a ring and talk to Alben (07) 5497 3164

Thanks David, i will talk to alben or allan. shane

"Hopefully" it's all going to happen, and March next year looks clear on the events calendar for this style of event, we have had some really good interest from some people with vast experience at setting up events and competing in events.

We are going to have a look at some properties after we get back from the Alpine Challenge and get the ball rolling. Can't say too much on who is looking at running it yet as it still needs to be confirmed that the event will be run with the interest of the competitors in mind. We will be trying to get cash prizes together from entries and hopefully any sponsors who would like to sponsor this type of event, but more on that later.

As I have said previously the event will be to CCDA (Cross Country Drivers Association) standards so make sure all 4WD's comply with their safety rules and competitors are members. Go to the website to make sure that your 4B complies to the safety requirements. http://ccda.info/cms/index.php

We will also be looking for lots of Marshalls. Marshalls have to be CCDA accredited and we will organise a time for anyone interested to be trained by a CCDA trainer here in Brisbane. (Date and time to be confirmed). PM your interest so I can get numbers together.

Anyone who wants a longer staged 4WD challenge with some winching and higher speed sections, let us know your thoughts on what you want in an event like this so we can try to cater for everyone. It will not be a short course style winch challenge, if your looking for that style of event in QLD then support Dave Metcalfe and do his Extreme Winch Challenges which I have found to be a lot of fun for an Extreme Winching event.

Cheers,
Todd Robards.

G'Day Todd

Do me a favour and don't set this up on the last weekend of February 08 as we are having the Show and Shine again that weekend and we would like as many of the comp cars as possible to come along to help raise support for our charities.

More on this subject will be announced on here soon.

Thanks Mate

Keep your shirts on fella's
Just because you havn't been told anything doesn't mean nothing is happening behind the scenes. Todd was just asking for interest, and these things take a lot of work to organise, if you are so keen to get it happening try to do it yourselfs, Piglet offered up a property just up the road from you, maybe you can get it up and going sooner?

We had a lot of interest at the start but looks like we couldn't get anybody to definitely comit to running it.

There's a lot of interest out there and I have had a lot of calls behind the scenes saying that they would definitely be in it but don't want to say it out loud where everyone can hear their thoughts and maybe condem them for it, there's a lot of people that really like the idea but we just need a person or organisation to run it and as this thread shows they will get a lot of help to set it up.

Here's hoping.

Just my opinion, and please no one jump down my throat, but this planned event sounds pretty close to the Qld Winch Challenge.

long stages High speed sections, technical winching, all your missing is the 2 cars on the track side by side racing...... :D
i'm sure all the competitors from round 3 would totally agree ;)

What's wrong with being similar to another event? Just make it what you want and make it suitable to a larger range of competitors vehicles so more can enter. I'd love to travel up from Melb to marshal. I also think some would travel up in groups, be it competitors, spectators, marshals or all of the above.

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with being similar to an event, I was just letting ppl know that it seems like their asking for an event that is already running.......

we are yet to confirm the dates for next year, as round 3 this year was our final round of the comp running as a 3 round series. Next year will be one event, 4 days 2 cars on the tracks, racing each other, plenty of technical winching points, as well as big long runs.........
