I'd go 33's. I'm going to have a crack at 35's when i get around to it. I've got power steering though. The 2.4's are no rocket to start with, so a bit slower wont kill you!

i already have 235/85/16 on it and they are equivelent to 32's and it still doesnt rub or fowl. i think the 33's would fit under full flex it might rub. i will have to wait and see. thanks mate.

sorry forgot to say i had to panelbeat the guards just a little. Plus i am putting in a 2inch body as well. then it might scrub just a tiny bit on full flex. Maybe!

hey m8, when ya get into flex shit, i can get my 30's to scrub under full flex... you will need a body lift with 33's believe me. i have 32/11.5's on mine now, you prollly seen the pics, but yeh if i didnt extend my sumpstops they would tear my guards apart.. i mean really make a mess either that or cut the tyre.

with the power, prolly wont worry as they fairly tourqy motor when in low range, high range dont worry, so long as she performs in low

33's+hilux cv's arnt the best match if ya start gettin into driving the mor funky tracks, all as i can say if you get 33's go light on the the right foot...

and just looked at the pics m8 them tyres 235's are equivilent to 30's arnt they? i had em and my 235's were no 32 inch. and another thing was the width, like what youve got judgin by the pic is 8.5 -9 inches wide, most 33's are 12.5 wide. all this factors into it.. and without power steer at 12 -14 pound they will be an absolute nightmare  ive just brought tyres so just thought id share every bit that i factor'd in for you to help out, Cheers, Chris.

Buy the 33's mate, they really don't affect it that much at all ;)

Buy the tyres and work around them, it's not as much work as you might think once you have them on and look at where they scrub.

Hey i run 265-75-16 (32's) on the road and 33-12.5-15 off it

i have a 2in suspension lift i get rubbing on the fire wall with the 33's i would suggest a nice set of 32's would do the trick very nicely will put your speed'o out around 5% as apposed to 10% for 33's and you shouldn't have any where near as much trouble with breaking drive train components on 32's

Should've mentioned that they're going to be "skinny" 35's, not these big fat-arsed mud chuckers that usually get around. And i wouldn't stress too much about wrecking your motor - my old man had a 2.4D dual cab many years ago that he towed a full tandem tool trailer (bit shorter than a car trailer) fully loaded on a regular basis for nearly ten years, never hurt the motor. They're nearly bulletproof.

Get the bigger tyres - you'll thank us later!

thanks heaps for all the feedback guys, the wheels on her now acctually measure in at about 31.5" and 9.5" wide. if i get the same 235/85/16 in a simex, or mickey thompson they state that their diameter is about 32.5" we will see how i go. ill save the dosh and might put some 32"s on her, thanks again all. great to get tips and shiz.
