Water storage on GU wagon?
Guys what are the options for water storgae on GU wagons, i am looking at making a small tank, about 14/15l that fits between the sill and the rail on the passenger side
Looking for better options that dont cost the world!

I have also seen a caravan water tank mounted to a frame behind the seats. they are nice and narrow and have outlets on opposite corners to allow for a filler at the top and a outlet at the bottom. best bit they are about $80 - $100 bucks and are designed for water storage

Can you post the picture here please MJP. I would like to see this also.MJP wrote:I use a 20L jerry can as part of my drawer system. Fits in nicely behind the 40L engel. There are still pics on here i think. otherwise can send pics if that helps.

I used to have a S/S tank which fitted between the cargo barrier and the seat. Held 60Ltrs of water evenly distributed across the width of the vehicle.
Now i have a GQ and use a 20Ltr plastic jerry can strapped to the cargo barrier and a hose that comes off that out to the back door with a plastic tap so I can easily turn it on & off. Easy to fill it through the sliding window.

I have a stainless tank that is wedge shaped that fits behind the center row of seats against the cargo barrier - its 60lts and made by LRA. You dont have cargo barrier, btu the space behind seats is usless for much else, and you use the seat mountbolts for bolting it down....jet-6 wrote:Yer but i dont have a cargo barrier, i am looking for a more permanent setup i think

My car does not have that dip in the floor behind the seats anymore, i made the lid for it and store all my recovery gear under it and the rear seats, you can fit heaps of stuff under there, i was suprised
Anyway just found a 1/2 sheet of 1.6mm stainless, ill have the side tank made tonight, and if its not enough ill make a second tank under the passenger rear seat, just looked at pics and i can get enough sheet to make it too, then pipe them up together
I have 5 shifts left here at my current job, may as well use the stuff while i can
Edit:
Ok i have just completed it, it hold 13l but its better than none, it fits between the sill and the rail on the passenger side, it looks like a coffin to fit between the body mount bracket and the sub frame
I have welded 3 1/2 inlets/outlets, one at the top of the front and one at each end at the bottom
If someone wants a copy of the plans just ask, ill try my best to get them drawn up on the PC over the next few days
So im happy now, 13l of water storage from free!!!! But ill get some more out of it, by the time i run a 1 1/2 line up to the front of the engine bay next to the washer bottle it will add another litre or so
Now just need to workout where to put the outlet, and if i need a pump or not
Ill get some pics up tomorrow once i have cleaned it up, i have no pickle paste atm so ill sand it clean!

hey mate i no i dont own a nissan would love one but had to settle for a lux. i have made a water tank for the lux. i no it wont fit yours but might give you some ideas. i used 90mm sewage pipe and angle and t pieces mine holds about 50 litres. and it is tucked away under the tray and cant be seen. the shape of the tank reduces water rushing, therefore i dont need a baffle.

Would one of those chemicle sprayers work? Square of rectangular preferable for space saving reasons, but just pump it up and then use the spray nozle for water flow, just repump when you fill it up (and maybe one or twice during usage of the whole tank.
Just a thought - i use one full of Rum & Coke in an esky for big trips so i dont need to keeop getting up and down every 10 minutes - it's been named "THE PUNISHER"
