Hello chaps,
I've whipped the top of the ol' girl to see where all my coolants going and don't you know it, blown head gasket again!!
91 NH 3L V6 6g72
I replaced the original to me, head gaskets about 2 years ago due to having to replace a dodgily repaired cylinder head. I used a brand that's supposed to PERMAnently SEAL the leaks but upon inspection I have found that the fire ring has collapsed and broken away on two cylinders and many of the others have split. I have had plenty of experience in engine building and repairs on various different things but I was wondering if any of you have had a similar problem and what brand gaskets did you use to cure the leaks?
GENUINE?????
MONO-TORQUE????
BRAND X???????
Please help out a poor young man in need of assistance from the knowlegable men of Paj land!!!!

Head Gasket
Hi Champ,
I have just rebuilt the top end on my NJ Paj and have used ACL Mono Torque Head Gaskets. Have done around 900kms with no problems so far.
Make sure you use decent head gaskets and valve stem seals on these motors or you will be pulling your wallet back out in no time.
Cheers,
Daniel

Thanks for the replies chaps.
The Mono-torques have arrived!!
Well almost....
The bloke behind the counter forgot to order the parts for two days.
Then when they turned up, he'd only ordered one head gasket and not the two I had asked for.
But wait for it... the one that turned up had a damaged fire ring and can't be used anyway.
Why is life so unkind????
Looks like I might get the bits for Chrismas if I ask Santa real nice!!
Hylomar is good stuff as is Three Bond's 1207B.
Bye Guys

Valves are almost new. Very little carbon left after a carbon clean treatment. Timing is spot on. Compression has been raised slightly. The fire rings show no signs of detonation or heat stress. The heads were torqued down with a calibrated Warren and Brown. The fire rings have split which has allowed the graphite gasket material to be displaced.
All fixed now and running fine!!
