greenslip n rego?????
greenslip n rego?????
i have a sierra and my green slip is dear. i was just wonder how do i get it changed on the rego papers from saying its a soft top to a ute i only want the front seats in it.
COALFIELDS FAMILY 4X4 CLUB
I know my 40 series was mistakenly registered as a two seater even though it had the factory seat and mounting points in it. When I asked the RTA what I needed to do to get it changed to a four seater on the rego papers, they said that an engineer needed to certify the "conversion".
I would imagine that it would be similar to get it changed to two seats from four. Is it really that much cheaper on the green slip if its registered as a two seater? If not just unbolt the back seat and away you go.
EDIT: according to this online greenslip quote page the number of seats does not even come into question when determining the green slip price. Id just remove the rear seat and run it as is.

you need to go to the RTA and ask them to classify it as a "convertable"...
this is not always easy but in my experience if you go to a few different braches and ask different people you will eventually find someone who goes "no problem"
you might get knocked back a few times but just play dumb and try your luck again with someone else. They have no idea what they are doing usually
It worked for me a few years ago and then I rang the green slip insurers and managed to talk to someone who drove a soft-top Vit and she sorted that out too

it already is regoed as a convertible.DSzuke wrote:you need to go to the RTA and ask them to classify it as a "convertable"...

She wants to rego it as a ute and pay more for some reason as the ute rego from memory is more in NSW.

whoops... you're quite right (my bad )
never seen that question before!?
Ute rego is way more in NSW so most people usually try to go the other way.
Princess T... are you claiming it for work for tax or something? (I am obviously not understanding this too well )

There are green slip price estimates online, go and see what the difference is. For the record, my sierra is registered as a Ute, but i cant rememeber the price for green slip. Your age will also effect your insurance cost too, so that might have to be taken into acount before comparing prices.

You cant change the classification easily as it is tied to the ADR compliance of the vehicle
To change it will require and engineers cert and a lot of red tape
It's just not worth it
Shop around I had quotes from $400 to $900 for CTP
