Im here for the sausage!
which double cardin
Which double cardin do people recommend?
i have heard MQ patrols are quite large DC joints.
hilux seem more common but ive heard arent as big.
what do you guys think?
im looking at strength here.
and is there another option thats better but able to be sourced easily like the above 2?
also, making my custom shafts out of 80 and GQ shafts as it works out cheaper to use the flanges off these (im running dual GQ transfer and 80 diffs). if i was to use one of these shafts as a base for the custom shaft, which would people recommend, GQ or 80?
has anyone got info on the thickness of these 2? and which has larger uni joints?
cheers
Tony

MQ and hilux/60 series double cardens are the same unit except for flange patten and are both weak as piss they will only work on a front part time shaft. If you want strength go for a sagnaw DC 3R series from a chev or caddy limo they have the same bolt patten as GQ rear you just need to make a sleeve for the spigot and their cheaper as well

f trucks use spicer double cardons they are available in 1310 or 1330 series but they have A needle roller on the pivot pin same as the jap cardons which fail eventually the saginaws use a ball pivot with spring loaded half moon bushes to locate the centre much stronger setup and last a lot longer .I keep all types of double cardons in stock .Incidentally i have saginaw double cardons front and rear on my GU.

Got any idea on $?rvh96 wrote:saginaws use a ball pivot with spring loaded half moon bushes to locate the centre much stronger setup and last a lot longer .I keep all types of double cardons in stock.
Thinking of modding my Rover shafts, are these flanged? Will be welding them on in place of the Rover parts.

Yeah I would be interested in a price too.up2nogood wrote:Got any idea on $?rvh96 wrote:saginaws use a ball pivot with spring loaded half moon bushes to locate the centre much stronger setup and last a lot longer .I keep all types of double cardons in stock.

Also how hard are they to mod to a Lux bolt pattern?
Cheers
