200 Series Suspension

I got to crawl round under a new GXL petrol 200 yesterday, much to the dismay of Motorama's sales guys on the pretty showroom floor. Trying to show new clients the $80,000 car whilst some guy in greasy clothes with a pile of spare parts and a laughing 2yo crawl under the new beast.

Looks like the underneath of an independent 100. Exhaust has changed sides, that's about all.

Dunno if the self levelling suspension has been dropped, it wasn't there on the petrol GXL. Pity, that was pretty cool.

The Kinematic system is not the kinematic system. On the kinematic website they have a diagonally cross linked hydraulic system. Toyota has copped out and instead done what is essentially a "swaybar disconnect" system. There is an extra pivot point in the swaybar crank arms, one front, one rear, both on the LHS. Normally these are rigid and the swaybar operates as per normal. When "released, fluid can flow front to rear. This deactivates the swaybar to a large extent and offers a partial "push it down" effect on the hanging wheel. Aparrently it works from the reviews I have read, but revolutionary it aint.

Interior is nice, but not amazing. Just incrementally better.

I think I'll save my money and hope to steal a diesel V8 when someone parks it in the wrong place. I'm not a total pr*ck, I'd leave them my 1HZ so they weren't stranded.

The suspension is part spring part air/hydrolic it was low probably because it was at the low setting.

There's a setting switch on the centre console or on the dash in the middle.

Reading some of the mags with the specs etc will let you know what's in it.

going to cost a pretty penny too.

Twin turbo diesel too I think.

Just wonder how much time we need to wait, until see some Chips for the V8 Twin Turbo engine 2VD-FTV and suspension system ..

All in all, I'm still thought that all gonna be more costly .. suspension, lockers, bull bars .. etc ..

Last week in SEMA show in Vegas .. they have a 200 series armed by TJM, intersting stuff ..

That's not correct.

Rear of the self levelling 100 is a combination of very light springs and special dampers. The dampers have a remote reservoir which is gas (some type) over hydraulic. Hydraulic quantity is varied for height adjustment by pump under bonnet on LHS like ABS pump. Valve body + hydraulic accumulator sit under sills at rear in front of wheels.

Bascially the kinematic system is very similar, except they cross link the system.

The kinematic in the 200 is not the kinematic system off their website.

according to the sales dep at work, they got to go down to werribee and test drive them ova a offroad coarse they are ifs front, torsion bar with a hydro system that is supposed to counter act the action of the oppisite side, they said they had a patrol ova the same course and in parts the patrol was hanging a front wheel in the air, cruiser ova the same mound same line kept all 4 on the ground. sales people arnt to clued onto the mechanicals of it. when we get our hands on info(service dep) i should have a betta understanding,
Just something else expensive to fix and prone to failure

Damn my memory is playing tricks on me.
It's about 5 years since I crawled underneath the 100 series to check the AHC out.

Are you saying that they are torsion bar front, the one we got presented with last night at our Club's release was coils.
Wouldn't buy one though, too expensive.

I got to have a good look at a brand new black 200 series sahara, was parked on the side of the road in mt lawley (perth). Man it's a luxury car alright, was peeking round having a good look under and inside when i noticed a nice big riviera badge on the front seat, obviously for his big FCUK of boat aswell. I mean whats the new sahara worth 150k? haha oh and 4 mobile phones in the centre console yes FOUR!!! top of the line snazzy looking ones!!
