Max Air or A/C compressor for inflating 33" tyres
Max Air or A/C compressor for inflating 33" tyres
I have TB42E LWB GQ, and have a portable Max air compressor. As we deflate to about 10-12 psi for sand driving, and lower for recovery situations, the max air takes a little time to fill the 33" tyres back to 35 psi.
So I am not sure whether to get a scrapped A/C compressor and install that, or use my existing Max air, with a scrapped fire extinguisher or resovoir tank to get more CFM from 10 to 35 psi. Will mostly use for inflating tyres. Want to keep costs low, and if a A/C compressor is only going to give me say 10-15 sec advantage then would rather go the route of the max air.
What would be a suitable capacity of the resovoir tank and where would be the best place to install in a LWB GQ?
Cheers,

Re: Max Air or A/C compressor for inflating 33" tyres
I priced Endless air brackets for GQ the otehr day... fuckin funny price. $300 for brackets alone.
Go with an old truck air tank and the max air, but it maynot do what you wish filling the tank..

If I do add the tank and max air, as it is the cheapest option, would I see a good difference in times to inflate the tyres?
Also I heard that there was an article in one the magazines for modding a max air with a fire extinguisher, anybody know where I can get to read that article online?

A friend of mine has an endless air type setup and inflates his tyres about half the time as my bushranger compressor.
But then others have slower compressors and he has to wait anyway.
Having said that, I'll be adding one of the endless type setups on my truck in the new year. The extra air flow would be handy for other things as well eg. using an air blower etc.
