After quite a few years of not owning one ,i now own another Sierra.
I paid the grand sum of $250 today for the little 83 SJ 40 ,and will be driving it home on Saturday.
I know you all probably think it would be a pile of crap for that price but its not.
It runs ,all lights and electricals work,gear box and transfer case works with no problems.Rust...couple of bits near the rear door hinge, top one ,and a bit on the passenger door.The bumpers are bent in a bit here and there but thats okay ,i have already lined up some tubers to be made mates rates and all.same bloke is making me up some 50mm body lift blocks as we speak and extended shackles for it.
Have 31's on my 60 series which will be pilferred for the zook,justifies to the wife that i have to fit my 33's to the 60.
Pictures after i get her home ,any imput or help would be much appreciated.

Glad to hear it russel, though you might want to be careful that you don't find yourself outdriving the 60 series on a regular basis or you may have to work hard to justify keeping it
Quick Tip:
Don't go much more than 1" longer than stock on the longer shackles.

One inch on the shackles any reason , too much flex ...?
I was considering welding the front and putting a locker of some sort in the rear that way when 4wheel isnt engaged the diff acts as normal,is that right.
Yeah i gotta be carfull so the boss doesnt say ,''you dont need the 60 any more get rid of it and give me the money for safe keeping''You gotta say this in your worst ''witch'' voice so she sounds evil...My little princess.

More than 1 inch on the shackles will start affecting camber and your steering will become a bit more of an issue.
You are correct about welding up the front, but you will probably find it to be a pain in the backside when you have the hubs locked and it's pretty likely that you will regret it (sorry)...
Best to weld up the rear and live with it all the time - on road it isn't much of an issue, and is very predictable. Then if you go silly with your spending, put something like an air locker in the front... then you have twin lockers for the minimum amount of money possible
