Red/Blue/Orange/Green? What colour Lightforce Lens Can U Use
I got pulled over from a cop other day for having no mudflaps on the rear of the car. (due to flexing and getting caught and ripped off but i still have the factory flares.
I then got told that my red light force covers are not allowed and take them off now or will defect my car and fine me. I then took them off and said can i fit blue covers? He replied on colour u can have is clear!
he said if i'm seen with any coloured lens at all apart from clear i'll get a defect and a fine!
WDF! I must see fuking a million different bus, trucks, 4wd's ricers u name it with those blue lens on the lightforce 240's. I also see green ones going around on this site. I gota admit those red ones i had did stick out like crazy but i brought then from a 4wd shop and wasn't told not to use on the road or fit them!
Anyone got the rules as this seems like bullshit..
thanks
Rick.

Hmm so all those 4wd's i see with those blue tinted lens can be defected?
I'm so cut because i think he was just picking on my car for no fuckin reason!
I even said wat about all those others that have the blue covers and then he said i haven't see anyone with them !
grrr
Thanks mate for that info!

Are you sure about that?ISUZUROVER wrote:Only emergency vehicles can have blue (or forward facing) red lights.
Yellow/orange is OK if you say they are fog lights, but apart from that they should be clear.
I cant remerber where I read. But I didnt think it was an offence to use coloured lens covers on a driving light.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY....
lightforce make 2 different blue lenses, a real blue and a really transparent blue, i would think you would get away with the transparent blue.
Narva and Hella and others all make lights with blue tinted lenses, and i would think if they didn't meet ADR regulations they wouldn't make them.

Re: Red/Blue/Orange/Green? What colour Lightforce Lens Can U
dont run any covers on my LF's.. they work better that way.
not allowed to use blue and red at the same time, but ya can use one or the other, thats what a copper friend told me...
cars come stock with blue quartz and HID lights these days, so if ADRs say thats not allowed then there are thousands of vehicles comming from factory breaking the law...

All the colours bar pink are used by either emergency vehicles, or for fog/indicator/brakeISUZUROVER wrote:Only emergency vehicles can have blue (or forward facing) red lights.

Only white, or pink is legal.
the ADR's specifically cover HID lights, and makes allowances for themmacca81 wrote:not allowed to use blue and red at the same time, but ya can use one or the other, thats what a copper friend told me...

You cannot use blue (its police) or red (emergency) or orange (meant to inficate wide load, or something along those lines) or purple (queensland transport) or anything else, except pink.

I don't know how light force can sell these lens to shops and without saying by the way u can't use them on the road. Shop i got them from didn't say anything
I can completely understand having one red and one blue! But who would think 2 massive red lights are cops? haha
Thanks for ya help and interest

Why dont you contact dept of transport in QLD and get something official.
Because your only asking the question to here that your allowed. If you have something in writing at least you can explain to the officer (do it in a nice way).
go the fonz
4wd shops sell tyres that are not legal on the road, suspension lifts that are illegal etc etc etc
White and yellow (fog lights) are the only colors that forward facing lights may be No more than 6 forward facing lights (so an 80 series in vic can only legally have one set of drving lights) and the lights must always be in pairs.

Which is what I said - except that there are restrictions on when you can use (yellow) fog lights.

Slightly OT but why would you run blue/red light covers anyways other then for bling?
Since the purpose of lights is to be able to see in the dark, having anything but clear/yellow defeats the purpose.
You could argue that red filters give you better night vision since the military have been using red since we started throwing rocks at each other but in the bush they would be detrimental for our purpose.

blue and red actualy do give better vision at night because the glare is reduced MASSIVLY. its heaps easier on your eyes, and looking from dark spots, into the lit spots and back again it takes less time for your eyes to adjust. studies have proven this.
as for pink not being used for emergency vehicles, transport inspectors in tas use them

blue does cut the glare and makes the light seem whiter less shadows and you can have any colour lenses you like as long as their not turned on ,the cops cant do shit until you turn them on8 wrote:Slightly OT but why would you run blue/red light covers anyways other then for bling?

police or qld transport are very much within thier power to defect your vehicle if you have blue(police only, i think ambulance too now), red(other than brake/tail lights), orange(other than indicators) green(are you a cane trailer?) purple (are you qld transport?) lights fitted, yellow(other than fog lights,) wether they are on or not.
A speed camera would have prevented that!
I think they call it magenta http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magentamacca81 wrote:blue and red actualy do give better vision at night because the glare is reduced MASSIVLY. its heaps easier on your eyes, and looking from dark spots, into the lit spots and back again it takes less time for your eyes to adjust. studies have proven this.

Vic roads inspectors have them also.

pink is fine in qld, the only colour ubnderbody fluro's that are legal too. So if the ricers wanted pink fluro's instead of green theyd probably be legal.ISUZUROVER wrote:Same goes for what you said about pink lights though tooShadow wrote:

the technical problem here is that the light does not fit into a classification in the ADR's or Qld Modification Guidlines, and therefore it is dubious as to wether it is "legal" or not.

yes its magenta, those who develope their own black and white photos will use magenta filters a hell of alot, the shade of those filters is almost identical to said lights

I think saying "pink is fine in QLD" then going on to say it isn't covered by ADRs or mod guidelines is a bit of an oxymoron.Shadow wrote:pink is fine in qld, the only colour ubnderbody fluro's that are legal too. QLD rules specifically state blue not permitted and red must face rearward. Magenta is a mix of red and blue. ADRs specify spectral/colour temperature limits for automotive lights, and I would suspect that magenta lights would fail on those criteria. But the bottom line is that I don't know and neither do you - and you will probably still find a cop that would give you a ticket for them.
EDIT - QLD rules state that additional headlights (spotlights) should show a beam of white light only, and "fog" lights can be white or yellow. Sounds pretty clear cut based on that - magenta/pink are also illegal.

how are they dazzling lights? You can be dazzled by someones high beams, i fail to see how indirect light from an underbody neon can dazzle someone. show me anywhere that says they are illegal.chunderlicious wrote:underbody neons are illegal. they are classed as a dazzling light and are therefore a danger to other vehicles.
