red arc isolator... couple of questions and issues

Post by brad 93hilux »

What is the purpose of the red light on the isolator itself... i have just had the duel batteries set up in my lux and both batteries are brand new good quality batteries and both only hold charge at about 11.5V with everything swithched off?

Any help guys.....

Brad

The alternator only puts out 13V as well is that normal?>

Hi brad, if your measurements are correct, don’t worry about the Redarc, at 13 volts, your alternator is never going to charge either of your batteries.

Get your Voltage Regulator/Alternator checked.

thanks.... It is a bit hard to try to figure things out when something like that is giving you a bumsteer.

I have also noticed that the redarc isolator red light stays on after the ignition and everything is turned off is this normal?

Not sure of the purpose of the red light???? :? :?:

the red light indicates when the batteries are connected this happens when the main battery voltage reaches around 13.5 volts now the batteries will remain connected till the voltage drops to around 12.5 volts and the light goes out
going by what you said earlier i would try a different multimeter as the red arc shouldnt engage till the volts are at 13.5 v
