So after finding that the fuel gauge wires were broken off near the sender I ran some new wire from the sender up to under the passenger seat to see if I could get the gauge working.
Checked all connections with multi meter and they all have power.
Still wasn't working so I pulled the dash out and had a play with that to see if i could get it work.
If i push the needle to the half way point on the gauge and turn the car on to reds the gauge starts to go backwards until its at the point a normal needle would be turned off. ( its got 3/4's a tank of juice )
My thinking is that the sender must be stuffed, but just want some info or tips of how to make sure this was the problem ? I don't want to buy a new gauge to find out its something else.
Its a GQ wagon LWB and used to have a LRT but all the wiring has been disconnected from it and put back to standard as far as I could find. ( i did this myself )
Any tips or info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advace, Nick

Sorry should have explained.
The only way to get the needle to move is pull the dash out and do it by hand.
Once you start it and it gos back to empty it reads nothing and stays like it.
During my searching I saw someone talking about the ohms range that the sender reads at.
Anyone got any more info ? Is it in the manual ?
Cheers Nick
