as above is one reason, and becasue they crack mounts. Rangies may get away with it (no one has mention this as a problem) but most cars eventually crack mounts or the floor pan gets a bend/ knock in it.

The other reason is why BL if you don't have to. I would prefer to run a 2" lift and just cut the guards to clear tyres, keeps the CG lower too.

At the end of the day it's only my view, I know you aren't having ago.

No major improvement in travel, but plenty more room for bigger tyres. Getting the big flares fitted this week, then gotta decide what tyres to run. Knowing me, I will change my mind 4 or 5 times between now and then anyway.
I will post up some pics of the tyre choices I have narrowed down and get peoples thoughts.

Something a bit different, and the direction I am most likely heading at the moment.
Will be going with a 35 at this stage also.
Any other suggestions? The criteria is

Must be good onroad, so no bias belted tyres.
Must wear OK.
Gotta look tuff!
Not outrageously loud.

From the tyres you have shown i like the MTZ's a few mates run them(not on rovers)but they perform really well.

IMO(for what its worth) a 10.5" width tyre is plenty wide enough for a Rangie but that narrows your choice drastically.

The other thing i guess that needs consideration is you guys drive different terrain to us Mexicans.

Gotta have a laugh.

Those Dick Cepek tyres are so scientifically designed. Skull and crossbones on the side biters and similar representation of the ends of thigh bones in the lugs. Boggers gone through an ad agency.

The others look ok though.

Got my flares done today. The instructions are quite possibly the least useful I have ever come across for such a big job! These are the ones to fit 35in+ tyres.

You dont need 60 series diffs... Just get some rover
longfields, Q78x16 on those rims with wheel spacers,
would be strong & look sweet.........

I thought 60 series diffs whould have been weaker then 24 spline diff of has rick got the 12 spline axles

But then I would still be stuck with crap gearing and no lockers. The new diffs option solves a heap of issues for only a few hundred $$'s more than a set of Longs.

I wouldnt know never looked into 60 series diff

I can say I've seen a guy go through three axelss in one day out at Meni thats about it

Oh yeah 10 sorry

But I do see ricks piont these diffs have got the lot and already converted

The 60's will be sweet, especially with Longs. :D

I'm not sure how hard they are to fit to a RRC, but they're a piece of cake for Series Landys.

you should go 80 series front and nissan rear, cause they are wider, more stable

had nissans in my old one, was awsume. But by the soulds of it you are getting 60's setup for a RR with lockers and gears....if thats the case you can always get offset rims, or spacers if you get desprete.

as for colour coding, just get some black rims (steel or alloy) will set it off nicely with black flares and barwork

are you sure you dont mean 8o series rear and nissan front? I always thought nissan rear had the wrong centre offset, (BAD VIBES)

OK, a bit of an update on my Rangie. Starting to come together now, got the Toyota diffs in, and got a set of 17x9 Mickey T Classic Locks with 35x12.5r17 MTZ's.
Still heaps to do, including getting the shakes, noices, vibes, clangs and bangs out of it. I am determined that it will drive exactly like it did the day I picked it up by the time Im done.
So far I have had tailshafts modded, a draglink made, and braided brakelines made up as well.

Will see if I have any decent pics of the install, which I doubt, as we were full speed ahead the whole time! Did the job in around 8 hrs!!
