Where to put second battery on hilux

Im currently running duel batteries in my hilux i have the second one where my airbox went and using a pod filter instead..i want to go back to the airbox where can i put the second battery or how can i modify the airbox to fit? pics of your setup would be good. thanks

The diesel 2.4L Surf has the correct air box you require, as they have a second battery as standard.

This one in the picture has the 2.4 diesel air box

yeah and maybe the surfs i think are the same deal. Quick walk round a wreakers with a few in there you'll be able to find something that'll work.

A Surf is what is in the picture, so no maybe about it.

Just to save your confusion when you talk to a "Surf" nut - Hilux Surf (by Toyota) is the complete name given to the vehicle in question with the dual battery air box. Toyota Surf is what has evolved outside of Japan.

yeh i have done this also with a 2LTE air box, factory air intake hose to turbo pipe.

The factory battery tray is spot welded in, so what you do is centrepop the spot welds and drill them out. Which allows the battery tray to be removed from the surf and then tac welded onto your lux inner guard.

Then go to supercheap/repco and buy the battery clamp kit, make a new mount on the front and bolt the battery down.

Cheap and REALLY easy setup.... cost me approx $100 for the lot which includes getting a pannel beater to tac it on.

pic would be good if u dont mind.....i dont have a battery tray for my second battery just got it held in with a battery clamp kit holds good

anyone got a surf airbox for sale?

Its not the neatest setup but it works and was cheap, it fits in nice too.

Get a battery box and put it on the tray like I have done, its out of the way then :armsup:

Mines out of the way... the space was just wasted before...

Plus there is less voltage drop and all my accessories didn't have, to have the cables run to the tray

every one has different setups, to me this was cheap/ practical and works great..
