radiator coolant leak 2H
i put a new radiator (second hand re-cored) in my 60 (2H) 4 months ago. recently didn't drive it for 3 weeks or so and left it in the street in melbs while i went down the coast.
Went for a drive yesterday and was all fine. Parked it for 2 hours and on the way back through the city in peak hour it starts to get hot. Then pretty close to the end of the dial....no quite red. I pushed home.
Turned it off and checked the engine, whilst it was hot i could still touch the rocker cover and top radiator hose without seering pain.
This morning all my coolant was on the ground.
What causes leaks and why would i have one so soon after a new re-cored radiator? Though some of the veins on the front do look pretty sketchy.
I really need this fixed. As i have a new job next week 20kms away

At first I thought it was a sea anemone, upon closer inspection I realised it was a funky ball of tits from outer space.
mate id check where its comin from eg. ur hose's,water pump, core etc if it aint comin from ur main cooling points pop ya thermostat out test it,check ya clutch in ya fan, radiator cap pressure check if its the rite one
had that happen to me my cruiser used to get a little over half when labouring till i changed my cap and glycol gotta love truck coolant

yeah i checked it the next day. Let it warm up and turned it off. Couldn't find any leaks and i've been driving around since then. Problem seems to of fixed itself. Not sure if that's bad or good.

could be head gasket leak pressurizing your cooling system, forcing water out overflow bottle.cruiser60series wrote:yeah i checked it the next day. Let it warm up and turned it off. 2h coolant loss
Check the oil cooler on the side of the engine block these are prone to corrode from the inside and develope a pin hole which can let all the water out. As for it fixing itself something (rust sediment) could have disloged and blocked the hole.
